For me it has to be the Hopkin Play-Off Final. The year before, my dad, brother & I had driven from the Scottish Highlands (where we were on holiday) to Wembley only to witness Claridge's shin break Palace hearts, then driven all the way back again the same day to get back to our families. The next year we were also on holiday in the north of Scotland (bad planning maybe - I blame my Dad!) and we couldn't face the 24 hour round trip again. We watched the game in a pub in Aviemore and, although we went utterly mental when Hoppo scored and celebrated long and hard into the night, I'll always regret not making the effort to get to the game. Anyone else regret missing such a big game? And why?

Will miss Palace/Arsenal in November, which is most regretting.
Pinch me, I'm dreaming, but if it is don't let me know. |

I suppose I regret missing the FA Cup semi v Liverpool in 1990. It was the first Palace game I saw on the telly, and it would have been fantastic to have been there. Other than that it would probably have to be Stockport away Edited by Mr Statto (12 Oct 2004 12:00pm)

For me it was the FA Cup Final. That Season I had seen Palace play in 50+ games - pre-season, league, cup (including the semi-final). On May 1st I took up a position in Saudi Arabia....ten days later was the Cup Final. So far, only seen Palace at Wembley in the FA Centenary Classic tournament - and that was only ten minutes each way!

Having the s***s (a bit graphic, sorry) on the night Palace beat Sunderland in the first leg of the play-off final last year was gutting. I had been to every game at Selhurst last season and sods law meant I missed the best one with the electric atmosphere. Cardiff made up for it though, that day really was mental.

The 1990 cup final. Went to the semi at villa park and the replay but was let down by a so called "mate" for tickets to the final. Went to the ZDSC final, that famous Stockport game(nearly had a heart attack there), Sunderland away play off second leg and of course Cardiff. Wouldn't have wanted to miss any of those. I regret missing both the FA Semi at Villa and the final that year, relied on me brother-in-law to get tickets for both games and he let me down badly. I managed to get tickets for the final replay but the damage had been done. Thankfully my sister got shot of him in the end so I didn't have to look at his mug anymore.
Look Mum! Did you Know, that on several occasions, he touched me? That wasn't true, made it up, shouldn't have done, sorry. "Shaun of the Dead" |

Derby at home in 97/98. Was unwell, which usually isn't enough to stop me going, but this time, what with the dismal performances and probably crap weather, I didn't go. Missed the first home win of the season. Bloody. Typical.
