6 taken from youth teams for the USA tour.

I know about Umeh and Mathurin but don't much about the others. must be highly rated to go on tour with the senior squad.

They'll be needed to make up the numbers given that seven of our first team won't be back until next month (and of those Mateta may miss the first couple of league games if France get to the final of the Olympic football tournament (9th August).

Will the 4 England and 2 Colombian lads be joining up for the US tour?

You would think logistically it would make sense for the 2 Columbian lads to have stayed in that part of the world after their tournament rather than lose that travel time returning to the UK.

Are you serious? These people do have homes and families, just like the rest of us. They aren't on military service.

If I was Columbian, settled in the UK for my job, I would anticipate that would involve wife & kids (Immediate family) I get the opportunity to travel back to my home region (broadly speaking, the America's) to take part in a competition during the summer months, a period when the kids are off school, I have some money in the bank & earn a relatively good wage, so what would I do ?

I would take the wife & kids to see our extended family, as a pro footballer I am still young enough (as indeed is my wife) to have at least some living parents & siblings, aunts, uncles friends from the region etc etc -

So staying on in that region for another week to take part in some matches in the USA is hardly likely to be considered akin to being conscripted -

But your original comment was based purely on 'logistics', and nothing to do with spending time with the extended family or visiting Disneyland. It's a strange arrogance to opine so strongly about what other people ought or ought not to be doing in their private lives.

With respect, I havent opined strongly about other people, I have suggested what I would do if I was in their shoes / was faced with a similar situation.

Personally, I doubt it. The 4 English lads have just had a 2 week break after a very long and hard season culminating in the Euro final. They will need some down time. Likewise the 2 Colombians. I think I read somewhere a few weeks back that the Colombians weren't due back until August (no date quoted) and I expect the same will apply to the 4 English ones.

If I had to guess at a return date, I would say early next week to join the squad here when they return from the US. Then they'll need to get some pre-season in. I don't expect any of the 6 to start the Brentford game but they may be on the bench. Just my views.

At the end of the day these lads are human beings not machines and they need to manage their bodies carefully - something Glasner, fortunately recognizes.

They didn't play at the Euro's, they were just there. What video? nothing on the club website just a few pictures.

EDIT Have just seen a video on facecloth from the club which confirms your post. All good.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I'd suggest that the three considerations for these 'tours' are, in order of priority:

1. Commercial
2. Fitness
3. Tactical/Morale

I tend not to read too much into them as number 1 there surely accounts for about 95% of all considerations.

I just pray for them to be injury free and, as always, perhaps with delusion, dream and wish for the emergence of a superstar out of the youth.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
