I know nothing thing about the game of GF but this is clearly a big deal.
I’m quite intrigued and if anyone can explain why it’s so crazy and have experienced a game of GF it would be cool. Thanks

It's a pretty wild game for sure. There is also International Rules which was a hybrid of Gaelic and Aussie Rules. No idea if it's still going but it was banned for years due to the astonishing levels of violence. Even the Aussies thought it was too much.

I played for the London Round Towers for a few years as a teenager so probably more familiar than most with the sport!

The All-Ireland is like the Super Bowl - every county puts forward a team and it’s a yearly tournament to get a winner. Dublin and Kerry have dominated the sport for the last few years so it’s a big deal this year that neither have made the final.

The county you’re from is a big part of your identity for a lot of Irish people, so there’s a huge amount of local pride if the team does well.

Believe me the standard I was playing at was nothing like these units.

All the madder that they’re playing for free!

Cant stand the sport. But I do admire the fans as they all support thier local county.

I find the football relatively sh1t as a sport but the hurling crazy. I can play the football well enough but didn't grow up with a hurley so that's out for me. However, Galway in the final and the flags are up down my road. My whole road is awash with Galway flags - quite a sight really.

I did try going to a few hurling games a few years ago but just could not get into it. I have noticed alot of Galway tops and flags in my area the last few weeks. (Kildare)

I'd say a lot of the country is going to prefer Galway to Armagh. I was in the pub for the semis and met an Armagh fan. Wasn't a bad fellow. Watched the hurling final in the pub too and we all decided on Clare so we didn't have to listen to that "People's Republic of Cork" crap. Happy days.
I remember living much more in the city centre the last couple of times we won the football. Bonfires and all night drinking. They were the days. I think we're getting a big screen in Eyre Sq but I'll either watch it home or in the pub.
I'll hazard a guess at a Galway win. What you will see is two different styles - the defensive, hand pass game of the Ulster Championship Vs the cavalier kicking approach of Connacht. So the purists will be looking for a Galway win. It'll be close - they always are.

Living over in Castlederg County Tyrone I can tell you it's a big deal here, not that I watch any of it myself.

I guess they're going for Armagh?
