Surely Academy players should be able to see the light with Chelsea and realise that the chances of getting into their first team via the academy route is about 50/1. Probably end up on loan and then disappear into the ether if they even get that far. Chelsea are definitely a perfect example of the grass isn’t greener.

It all depends how your mind works and what back up that you have.
If a player likes the idea of Man Utd and telling everyone who you play for then it is better for the donor club to let that player go.
If they want to learn and play then they are better off staying where they are.

The kid is 16. His development could take all sorts of pathways. There are many examples of young players of that age who have shown immense talent but have failed to progress and kick on from that early promise.

If he goes he goes - Palace, United or the player himself will be able to repent at leisure depending on how his career develops.
