As a Palace fan it’s a new experience to see half your team linked with moves to big clubs - Olise, Eze, Guehi, Wharton, and Mateta have all been mentioned as possible movers. It may all be click bait or not but as one of the smaller clubs in the PL it is a consequence of our successful end to the season and potential going into next season. If we are “moving to the next level” then perhaps we better get used to it. It is a sign of success. We’re used to chronic anxiety during the season wondering whether we can secure enough points to survive. If we do well in future seasons then that in season anxiety will be replaced with concern every close season that we might lose our star players. It’s just the lot of a smaller club punching above its weight.
For me I’m going to chill in the belief that whatever happens we have a management team and a coach who will work hard to ensure success on the pitch. I’m not going to let speculation over possible departures overshadow the the excitement about new arrivals. Whatever happens this summer best season promises to be our best yet. It’s a great time to be a Palace fan!

Q: Is transfer speculation a sign of progress?

A: Yes

Whilst it might not be the most comfortable summer, it makes a nice change having a few players that other clubs actually value.

It’s always been there but it was always Wilf Wilf and Wilf. None of our other players conjured up the same interest and speculation as we are seeing now.
