I played bowls in a league match last night in Essex. (Yes I'm an old git) Chatting to my opposite number and he said he was a Leeds fan. Told him I was Palace and he replied I'm good friends with a Palace fan that runs a pub near the ground. Not Danny says I. Yes he says!!!

Small world eh! Anyone else had something similar?

When I was a teenager I worked in a sports department in a Coop in Portsmouth. Palace had been relegated that season and Dowie happened to come into the store and we had a brief chat and he signed something. He wanted to get a football shirt for his kid that wasn't just Man Utd or Liverpool and I told him we had the West Ham shirt. Soon after he signed for West Ham. Coincidence? Lee Bradbury also visited the store that year but I hold no responsibility for him joining us a couple of years later!

As I think you know I am a bowler too (we got hammered 24-7 last night by a rink of County bowlers) but this isn’t bowls related.

Years ago when I was in the Philippines I made a 2 hour drive to the other side of the island I was on to stay for a few days and go diving. The first evening I was looking for somewhere to eat and went in one of the many “Restobars”, ordered a beer and some food and started to chat with the only other guy in there, who turned out to also be English. Then I noticed an old Palace scarf behind the bar, and remarked on it. Not only did he own the bar, he was a member here with whom I had exchanged messages. Needless to say we spent a lot of time talking Palace and watching live games at odd hours. I have lost touch and he no longer posts.
