Has anyone got experience of getting a physical season ticket card. If so, how did you get one?

I believe a number of people got the physical cards issued after complaining to the box office when the digital tickets were first issued (was it 2 seasons ago?) I think the underlying basis for a decision was that they didnt have or couldnt use a smart phone. Clearly there is a reluctance to issue physical cards especially if an applicant has previously had & used a digital ticket-

I've had a plastic card since they went digital as haven't got a smartphone. At first I was messed about and lied to by box office for half a season but then I contacted the nice lady who helped fans and she sorted it for me (and gave me a couple of free tickets as a kind of apology). The following season they played hard ball again til I contacted her again. Waiting to see if one arrives in July. If it doesn't, i can't go attend matches anymore!!

From what I can tell they really want people to be digital now so you have to have a good reason to want plastic one.

I bet those new LED advertiser banners around the ground are challenging for you. Originally posted by eritheagle

Always had a card, stuck to my guns, can't use digital ticketing. Has meant having to collect away tickets with photo ID at away grounds. Got mucked about a bit at Man City and Liverpool who were a bit unprepared (former due to CP box office latter due to Liverpool) I expect the majority of away grounds will be digital next season. When the hassle becomes unbearable I will probably just throw the towel in and become full time non league fan, which I have been going to more and more over last 10 years due to so many Palace games not being on Saturdays Don't know what you call it, disenfranchisement, digital exclusion? I accept it's as much me as it is Palace. Would really like to see Palace abroad in European competition one day (which I think isn't all that far away), at Everton's new ground etc etc, but I think its slowly moving away from me. I might be able to get my son to help me with it one day but even he is extremely hesitant about it, and every game I read scare stories about people for whom the tech let them down and they missed some or all of a game because they had to queue at a box office where there was a huge queue, things not 'refreshing' etc. Sounds like a nightmare to me and it gives me a sort of anxiety

In fairness to the digital ticketing facility it has got better, the only 2 times I worry about it are- a) The first home game of the season. You can see on the card details (click the 3 dots) whether it has updated properly for the next game. Originally posted by dorking

Why doesn't the digital card just have a barcode or qr code for the season, then all you need to do is take a snapshot of it, then open your photos at the turnstile and present that ? Seems over complicated to me.

They've not been as bad as I feared they would be but night games with all the lights and floodlights etc are a bit challenging. I have to go back out onto the concourse when they do the light show before kick off and i do cover my ears when the teams come out and the fireworks go off.

Digital access is effectively pushed forward to devices (Refreshed) a game at a time, clubs today want a tighter (digital) control over who is actually using the ticket- Home supporter / Away supporter / Stadium banned / known trouble makers etc etc etc This control / accountability is lost with a plastic card. I sit in the main stand & really like the new banners especially the ones at the top of the AW & the flames razzmatazz before the game , but its easy to see that they really are bright & for someone with any form of bright light aversion they would be quite an issue. Originally posted by eritheagle
