Aston Villa, Chelsea, Everton, Leicester, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest are under pressure to sell players before the June 30 to avoid PSR breaches. Do we put a cheeky bid in for a player we need or do we look forward to them getting a points deduction?

Not sure about this but if a private investor puts in money like bloom at Brighton then would that balance the books ?

For sure every club will have read the report on Forest & their points deductions, especially parts detailing how Forest sold a player after the 30 / 06 deadline, then claimed that they were right to do so because they achieved a higher sale price & tried to convince the panel that getting the highest price was more beneficial / more important to staying on the right side of FFP / PSR rather than considering the date that the player was sold. Clearly the adjudicating panel & the appeal panel both felt that the date in the FFP / PSR terms & conditions that every club signed up for was actually a more important line in the sand. According to the BBC the PL has agreed to trial a spending cap next season. This will work along side the current FFP rules which did for Forest and Everton. The spending cap is just a trial so if any club breaches it there will not be any punishment. I guess that makes sense, try out a new rule before you start penalising people.

I'm surprised the Man City lawyers have allowed this.

The only way to increase revenue is through lowering wages, selling players and the the commercial arm of the club, Merchandising, ticket sales, advertising etc. Where it gets murk is if Tony Bloom decides to sponsor the club shirt for a ridiculous amount. Or in the case of City you get your Arab mates through their companies to do the same thing. It's why FFP doesn't work it would be a lot easier if they simplified the rules and allowed those who had money to inject it into the club legally. FFP should be about stopping clubs borrowing too much money as Pompey did.

Did Chelsea not mitigate this by selling the hotel and other properties?
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

There are always ways around these rules but the more complicated they get the more likely someone will come up with a tricky solution that the PL hasn't thought about. I would prefer a much simpler solution, if an owner wants to pump money into the club let him to a point. You then have decide where to draw the line.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |
