Thiago Silva leaving at the end of the season. I am sure we would be prepared to listen to a swap deal for James Tomkins, which would help Chelsea out. Happy to take Sterling in exchange if Chelsea paid up his wages beyond £30k a week.

Sterling's wages.....325,000 a week I think just make the whole deal unrealistic. He's 29 and his best years are behind him. Chelsea really lumbered themselves there.

It's a sign of how far we've come that, wages apart, a 29 year old player with 80+ caps isn't an attractive prospect.

Maybe more why would we swap our exciting young number 7 for another clubs older number 7 who one could argue has his best years well and truly behind him and is on eye watering wages? I suspect this is just clickbait anyway for maybe even Chelski looking for a way to offload a liability!

In past years the idea of signing a player like Sterling would have seemed extraordinary but now it doesn't look very enticing.
