I went to my first Palace game, with my grandad, as my dad was abroad with the RAF and we were about to join him. Sat in the stand near Whitehorse End. Palace won 1-0 against York City. Here’s hoping many more years to come.

Long time Spiderman! On the off chance you didn't keep the programme it's on eBay for £3.

No idea why you started this thread Spider, but assume it's in celebration of your long standing, loyal support of our club. So, well done you.

What impressed me was the fact you could recall the match you watched and the score. My dad took me to Selhurst Park to watch Palace for the first time around about the same time as you, possibly a couple of years earlier, but I have no idea who we were playing or the score.

But, I loved the occasion and became addicted. Mum worked at Kennards every Saturday so trips to Selhurst with dad became a regular fortnightly treat. We travelled on the bus from Wallington and I remember that the journey home if we lost was a very sombre affair.

Thing is Spider, at 76 years of age I'm enjoying today's matches more than ever despite the fact that I can no longer travel to games.....and I bet you are too!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Certainly the last few months! Luckily I still attend games with my son. Sorry you can no longer attend, hope you get to see as many games as possible

Spider, looks like this thread which you put on BBS too, has gained a lot more replies than on here. Interesting eh?
