FFS

Here is some sort of explanation (not) [Link]

These guys are supposed to be setting an example, can you imagine all the kids who have been admonished for following suite?

Note it is mainly the rich clubs footballers that tend to do this, suppose they can afford it.

My question is, if the guy in the video is right surely the kit manufacturers can do a better job.

Apparently, it's because they are too tight around the calves, so the players cut them. You want to see some of our U21's & U18's matches, plenty of cut socks.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Back in my playing days we needed to do that with some of the s*** kits we had, the tops were too tight and didn’t half chafe the old nipples, imagine us all running out with two holes cut out of the tops and our nipples showing…….i can imagine what some of the other teams in the Orpington and Bromley league would’ve thought hay ho

Today I'm wearing my golfing socks.

Your golfing socks?

Yes; I've got a hole-in-one!

I remember that some of the replica kits in the seventies had very tight necks.

Thanks.

just another transient footballer fad.

do you remember when they all wore a plaster outside their nose ? to dilate the nostrils.

that seems to have died a death.

next fad ? answers on a postcard please.....

- i reckon we are long overdue football boots that provide some protection from all the Raheem Sterling style foot-stomps

The fad that really annoys me is the "pull my shorts up as high as I can during any dead ball situation" thing.

Main offenders:
Ben White (who frankly spends more time making sure he is looking lovely than playing football).
Reece Burke (just a berk)
Malo Gusto (looked like he was wearing a nappy because he pulled them up so high)

I have the same problem you would think that in this day and age they would have solved that problem.

In bygone days there was none of this darned cutting of socks.

One can only speculate as to whether in this modern era, calves have become more 'Generous' coupled with the fact that football socks have become more skimpier or perhaps it is merely a case of calves being far more developed than they used to be back in the day.
