I know as I type this people will think I am mad but could Riedewald be short term fix? He came through Ajax academy as the left side central defender in a 3. He has played in that position in Europe before he came to us. Surely he is worth a chance to prove to Glazner that he can fit his tactics and formation. The likelyhood is he will leave when his contract expires but he is one of the very few who have actually been schooled in playing a 3 man defence.

I think his career has passed him by to be fair . Very good technically but never quite made the grade as a Premier league footballer . Would have been great 30 years ago but he is too slow for todays game and should have gone back to Holland years ago

That he doesn't get a game when we are having to play kids say it all

I had similar thoughts , but believe Riedewald is injured .
My guess is that Lerma will feature again in defence v Man City.
Tomkins has been a very good player for the club , but the fact that a midfielder Ozoh was preferred to come on v Bournemouth speaks volumes about Tomkins’ readiness for first team involvement.
Does anybody remember Allardyce playing Schlupp as centre back v Man Utd a few years ago?
I think we lost 5-0.

As long as Mitchell is relieved from duty as wing-back… I don’t really care.

it was Man City - he was partnered with Kelly. Probably the worst CB partnership ever!

Tomkins should have been released 2 seasons ago. In that period he has rarely played, when he has he has been off the pace and his passing is terrible. In that period i suspect he has taken £5m in wages. Now he can't even get a game despite having only 1 fit CB.

With Guehi and Richards injured surely a 433 formation makes more sense. Playing players out of position seems bizarre

I wonder whether Mitchell could tuck inside and Schlupp replace him at wingback. At least that would give us some pace on the left. Tomkins runs like Ward on ketamine these days so I wouldn't even think of starting him.

Going to 4 at the back would mean an andersen ward pairing with munoz at rb

I think Mitchell has improved as a left wb. If I remember correctly he used his speed to supply the cross for Mateta's goal ? He is constantly underrated

Not in defence, but Franca is out for the season after surgery.
Doucoure also.
Will we ever have a fully fit squad?

He is just a sad reminder of de Boer's reign. The latter lasted five games whilst Jairo will rack up seven seasons without ever looking likely to establish himself. He is still only 27 but the club and he should have parted company some years ago

Hearing Hughes took a knock this week, it wouldn’t surprise me if Reidewald starts tomorrow. I’m expecting him to get more game time in, in the final matches?

Firstly, I don't think you're mad making this suggestion and

Secondly, Glasner made a point of expressing his pleasure that Jairo was back from injury. He brought him on at Anfield ahead of Ahamada, Tomkins and Ozoh (OK not much competition there) so he may well be thinking of Jairo as a short term fix. I will not be surprised to see him featuring from the start tomorrow, if Richards, Ward and Hughes are deemed not ready to start but only fit for the bench.
