Palace have appointed Dr Ahmad as our new Head of Medicine after a 7 year stint at QPR. He replaces Dr Iqbal who is off to Arses. Let’s hope he takes our hamstring curse with him! And here’s hoping Dr Ahmad keeps Ebs as fit as he did at QPR. Either way let’s have clearer decisions on medical fitness to play than we’ve had recently!

I surprised this news hasn't earned more comments. The timing is coincidently perfect - old manager out, new manager in...

If we are looking for the route/ remedy of hamstring issues, is that head of medicine or head of sport science ?

Our current head of sports medicine is moving to Arsenal . . . [Link] In reply to Dubai Eagle, it's Sports Medicine.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

From what I've heard from an ex sports science employee, it is their opinion that Roy doesn't pay any attention to the dept's advice.

This guys new position is management role with fancy title he wont have anything to do with players. Injuries come with sports but something Palace have been lacking for a long time is fitness (This will increase injuries) Remember the days in Championship how we was the best in this area it was taken very serious by Dougie. Nutrition/fitness & correct training are so important Some of the things I have seen from the club first one for example feeding people fake meat c**p etc is not a good sign. (They even come out with same old BS claims about how the nutrition is good healthy summing up lack of knowledge in the area recycling typical mainstream misinformation which is taught when you study these micky mouse courses) Originally posted by MrRobbo

Sports scientists do not deal with injuries. People need get an understanding of it you have a team of people who deal in different areas & will report to Head of Medicine who will speak with for example Roy. In this day and age no manager in top flight football is going to not listen to medical team unless the player overrides in which case an experienced manager will still question this. Edited by grumpymort (19 Feb 2024 9.59am) I'm not providing a name, that's not fair. He's not at the club any more, but was previously Head of. Is now at a top northern team. Their main issue was the lack of engagement with their teams data and recommendations, e.g. seeing players struggling in the week, suggesting they looked like they were over training, and needed a rest but getting ignored.
