Having looked at remaining fixtures probably best we can hope for is between 11 and 14 points Will that be enough to keep us out of 18th if others get no further points deductions?

Im sure we will hit a purple patch soon. We always flirt with the bottom sides and then string 4-5 wins togther.

Obviously on current form we’re going to struggle, but I still think we’ll do what we always do and get over 40 points. We’ve got plenty of winnable games left, starting with Sheffield on Tuesday

I think this will be the first season in our current spell in the top flight where we fail to hit 40 points. We may just gain enough to avoid the drop but I think it will be (as Wellington purportedly said) a close run thing.

A lot depends on this window and injuries coming back. We need Olise and Eza playing together and Ayew back in the squad. Then we need to strengthen the spine of the team and in particular central midfield. Losing Doucoure has been a big blow with Lerma the only decent central midfielder meaning the spine has been lost. If we get a quality central midfielder in before the window closes then we will easily get enough points to finish mid table. If we don’t get anyone in, we are in big trouble and I see next Tuesdays game as a must not lose, hopefully win match. It’s Hodgson’s last chance and defeat will mean whoever replaces him will be fighting to keep us up?

Early 30 points should be enough this season.

Beat the 3 bottom teams at home, and all we'll need is a few draws.

To me it's all on whether we can have a bit of good fortune and keep Olise on the field. If we can I think he'll be the difference in those winnable games.

If he picks up more knocks I can easily see us only getting maybe another 10 or 11 points.

5 of the last 7 games all against teams who will have LOTS to play for (City, Liverpool, West Ham, Utd and Villa), although I hope we'll get wins against Bournemouth and Fulham who hopefully will be on the beach by that point of the season.

Before that, we've got some hard games, which when frankly we're playing as badly as we are, every game looks hard to me. Without Olise as the difference maker, I just can't see us sweeping teams like Luton, Forest, Burnley then the rest are all teams like Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle.

Hope I'm wrong, but the squad is so injured and threadbare I can only see us getting worse, frankly.

We need to win 6 to get eighteen - and hence around 40. Seems doable if we can pull our fingers out. I'd say that around 37/38 to stay up this year. There will likely be two adrift and a close fight for third bottom. We'll be in that fight. However, if you think this season's squad is bad then think about next season.

All depends on the window - and then whether Roy will start playing the potential he has available..!!

If you believe the social media threads - suggestion is that Steve and Roy had a very frank discussion this week..!!

If I were Steve - I’d have been saying “Look Roy this playing of all your mediocre experienced players ain’t working, we’ve invested heavily in the academy and some younger players - either stop ignoring/blaming them or you’re history as you’re current 1st team selection isn’t working and is at odds with the strategy of the club”

If Roy does this with the return of Olise etc.. - we’ll just drift on in mid table - probably mid 40 point finish..!!

If he ignores it and keeps playing all his mediocre dross - will be mid 30’s and squeaky bum time..!!

See today been linked with Adam Wharton - seen him quite a few times in the Championship - boy is quality - much happier paying £15M for him than £10M 6 month loan deal for Philipps. But he’s 19 - will Roy play him or stick with old “lead boots”Hughes..!!

On the strong rumours going around Wharton and Munoz would be excellent additions - would make all the difference to where we finish and our final points tally..!!
