A real legend and an icon of World Rugby.
My thoughts go out to all his family and friends.
RIP.

I was amazed that he carried on as an orthopaedic surgeon after he'd finished playing as Rugby Union was still an amateur sport back then.

One of my favourite all time players, and I didn't like Wales!

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Photo of him in the Mail today, face and shirt a bloodied mess after being stamped on while playing for Bridgend against the All Blacks in 1978. Incredibly back on the field after having 30 stitches applied to the injury....by his father.

A rugby legend. RIP

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I am in regular contact with a former Welsh International Rugby player.
He informed me today that he used to meet JPR at a monthly breakfast attended by former players.

He echoed the sentiments of many who have waxed lyrical about the qualities JPR brought to the game.He truly was a legend and an icon.

I remember that great Welsh team of the 70’s, even Rugby was more enjoyable to watch back then.
I think apart from being a great player, his name stood out, I think the Welsh had to do the initials thing because they had so many Williams

RIP
