Heavens to Betsy, you are in the flush of youth, I reach the ripe age of 72 later this year !
If I knew I was going to live to such an age I would have taken better care of myself.
At my time of life you simply do not buy green bananas.

My advice is to enjoy it. I'm turning 60 this year and your mortality is a little more in focus then let me promise you.

If you haven't already, improve your diet, stop drinking, smoking and do some regular exercise. You will feel younger and healthier.

As long as you’re still mobile, you’ve still got your own teeth and hair and you don’t wake up dead, you’re doing okay, so don’t worry about it. Eat, drink and be happy as well

You'll be fine Nicky. Just relax into it and you'll enjoy things differently to the way you used to. The only thing is you have to do things a little differently, for instance if you go to the gym to recover energy levels then work it up more slowly. Much like going to the pub the body takes a little longer to recover.
Changes are often tricky to deal with but, honestly, a lot of things settle down again.
Try to look forward to things; who knows? You may have another 40+ years to go so it's really only half time.

Good advice especially "trapped in the past" too many of us become old gits.

I quite like that part though as in I really don’t care what people think of me anymore. I realised that life’s too short to be worrying what people who are going to dead in the future same as me, think of me now.

Some great advice looking forward is the way ahead, I went out on a Xmas work party, and couldn't believe the energy I still had on the dance floor, I think us generation xers definately had a great time in the 90s with the nightclubs music and partying.
Just need to improve diet and realise that old friends go and new friends come along, and after having worked for 30yrs solid enjoy life more and not worry too much about the future, Time is something I will value more.

The past is as important as the present and the future. It made us who we are

Life has a beginning and an end, and what happens in between is our domain to dwell in.

I treat every day as a bonus. I did some stuff in my youth,..but survived it.
Whilst I can no longer run marathons, or do anything too sporty, there are still many other ways to enjoy life, with a reasonable degree of sensibility.

I disengage, I turn the page.

We shouldn't forget the past but neither should we dwell in it. I know too many people who refuse to change or grow. I do not want to be that person.

At the age of 56 I gave up alcohol and took up yoga it opened up a new way of life for me and I would say I am a better person for it. Many of my friends are now dead largely due to their lifestyle choices and their refusal to at least moderate their behaviour.

By the way you quote about Life has...dwell in. In yoga we have a saying "We come into this world on a single breath and leave it the same way, what we do between those two breathes is what counts".

Namaste (I salute your practice).
