It's January 1st which means I am hungover but also that our players with expiring contracts could technically sign pre-contract agreements with clubs abroad. Here is our list of players with expiring contracts along with their reported current weekly wages (according to spotrac.com)... Will Hughes (£35,000) So, who would you keep and get rid of? For me Will Hughes, Jeffrey Schlupp (on reduced terms) and Joel Ward should stay. All as squad players. We should then bring in a new first choice right back. Surely we can't continue paying Clyne 80k, Riedewald, 55k and Tomkins 50k at this point. Ferguson is patently never going to recover so, brutal as it might be, he needs to go too.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Hughes, Schlupp, Clyne, Mathews. Agreed, let the rest go and keep Clyne as back up to a new RB but on reduced terms. The rest have to go, too old, too slow, not good enough.

Only Schlupp, one year,
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Only Schlupp, one year, Agree with one year, disagree with 'only'. Hughes is a good squad player, we need a 3rd goalie & Mathews is ideal(Whitworth & Goodman are not quite there, yet) Clyne is miles better than Ward & like Hughes a good back up(IF, we get a young good RB. All if's n but's really . . .

Like I said, only my opinion.. There may be quite a few academy players 'looking ready' for the step up, but that won't necessarily mean that they are - and you won't find out until you try - but what you are overlooking is that the players listed may not be the fastest any more, nor the fittest but their age and length of playing time in their careers give them a whole wealth of experience that no youngster can garner in the academy for those (usually pivotal) moments in a match when experience in reading the game and reacting accordingly is more useful than youth and enthusiasm. There is always a need for a few wise old heads on good journeyman players.

Also, here is the list of expiring contracts in the Prem. Any of these you think we realistically could / should try to sign? I see AWB is out of contract but would expect him to sign a new deal with United. Kenny Tete from Fulham would be a good alternative though. Maybe that Fedor Chalov that we've been linked with before? Iheanacho?

Jaydon Bogle, and Ben Johnson, better RBs than Clyne or Ward, and cheaper, and Danny Imray is knocking on the door, anyway surely no discission can be taken before the new manager gives his input
