Watching on Sky last night the preview explaining the rivalry between the two clubs to perhaps neutrals must have been a damp squid as it didn’t come across like that in the ground,, at least that’s how it seemed to me.The pundits keep on about how loud our support is but in my opinion since it is deteriorating or is that not the case? how was it for you who were at the ground ?

Apart from when we scored, I didn't detect much atmosphere coming through on Sky, but presumably they have to diminish the volume in order for the commentary team to be heard.
Isn't it inevitably the same with all TV coverage of football?

I was there, and I thought it was one of the tamest (for the want of a better word) atmospheres between us.

I don't know if it's because everyone's peed off with what's being served up on the pitch, but it's definitely not helping.

There's not a lot to get excited about.

Only 1 home win in 9 PL home games this season and to say that the 2nd half performance against Brighton was 'Disappointing' is a gross understatement.

Suffice to say that our supporters who have spent hard earned monies to purchase tickets for Selhurst Park have been short-changed and the 'Natives' are getting restless. No excitement whatsoever.

I was in block A of the holmesdale . Said to the fella next to me ‘they will be turning the mics down’. The majority of the songs were calling Lewis dunk a rapist/c+nt.
thought we were loud though.

It was flat and a feeling of inevitability set in in the second half.

There was almost silence at the final whistle as neither set of fans was happy with the result.

Atmosphere has been dire for a while now. I hear the same from alot of other fans from other premier league clubs these days too.

Nail on head willo. Some of the close fans you get to know are selling their tickets more often I’ve also noticed as different fans around me. A sad indictment of our boring manager and his tactics.

I’m told our record this season of 6 points from 9 home games is our worst record at home since coming back up.
The teams we have faced in this run include Forest, Bournemouth, Fulham and Brighton.
The first three of these we failed to score against too, and against Bournemouth we observed the unusual spectacle of the team being booed off.
We’re approaching the end of December and have won just one home game .
The insipid nature of the performances are a turn off for the fans as well as the results.
In general I think Palace fans are pretty loyal, but it’s difficult to generate much atmosphere when the results are poor and the performances lack passion or intent.

I am in agreement with the general thrust of these sentiments.
Abject home results devoid of much entertainment and I for one do not look forward to attending home games.
A 4 hour round-trip from my abode in West Sussex to witness only 1 home game in 9 this season in the PL.

One doesn't have to go far to figure out why we are amongst the lowest scoring sides in the PL (goals win games), it is a simple matter of understanding that it is the tactical preference of the manager, who likes to have more bodies behind the ball more often than having them in front of it. A Simple tactical decision to find the easiest way out from taking the responsibility of preparing a team in art the of forward play, chance creation, and scoring goals. It has been admitted that he doesn't coach forwards, which says it all really. Think about that for a moment, it's actually quite extraordinary.
For those who chime in with the "oh but look at what Croydon Roy has to deal with" - I would suggest to Roy that he gets on with it, that he finds a way, be it long ball, set piece, a succession of crosses, or even gung-ho, whatever. To use his experience to find a way out of the malaise his tactical approach has put us in. Don't make excuses. Don't blame the youngsters. Don't tell the fans that they are fortunate.
We are 15th using the tactics replicated in each and every game, no matter whether the opposition is at top or at the bottom. It's a deliberate decision to play like this, basically because this is all Roy knows. It doesn't work any longer, try something different, mix it up, or leave.

Its not just at Selhurst , while accepting our performances could be better in generating some enthusiasm football in general killed itself as an entertainment with the continued rule changes that has left many life long fans once expert in 'the laws' feeling confused and of course the use of VAR .
I note Klipperty was having a pop at the Liverpool fans the other day for the lack of atmosphere at Anfield of late .

So ,get back to some sort of tactics that involve trying to get the ball in the other teams net without having to wait 5 minutes before we can ,I was going to say celebrate it but by then nobody really gives a toss if its a goal or not .
In short give us our game back and we will make as much noise as you can handle .
