Can anybody explain to me why we are letting Doucoure go on international duty when he clearly was not fit, got injured against Burnley, didnt play against Everton, he certainly would have if fit, i know he was on the bench but clearly wasnt 100%, we should not allow him to go, Crazy.

I don't know anthing about it but some countries expect players who have made it in Europe to turn out for the national team. Most are proud to do so but I have heard stories of soldiers turning up in the middle of the night to their loved ones back home and they soon get the message. I hope that is not the case with Doucoure. I'd hate to be a North Korean player.

In a lot of cases now the player must turn up for the medical staff to determin his fitness , its not enough for the club to say he is injured as they could be faking . Jude Bellingham is a prime example of the same . He had to turn up to the England training camp with a shoulder injry so as the medical staff could assess how bad it is and if he could play or not when Carlo Ancelottis staff are adamant it needs rest. I'd be more worried about Michael Olise if he gets called up for France .

I believe the club is obligated to release players during the coordinated international match calendar unless they are injured . Doucoure isn't injured so he gets released . His national team will assess him as to his fitness .Nobody is trying to pull a fast one ,Doucoure can pull out at any time if he wants to .

National Federations usually accept a player's club's recommendation. Usually if the club say a player is injured they respect that. The national side though overrules the club under FIFA rules. If Mali insist he is to report for international duty whether he is fit or not Palace have no powers to prevent it.

Doesn’t mean he has to play, sometimes it’s just about keeping the squad together for moral and creating a club mentality around a national team. I should imagine he’s a big player for them and they’ll want him around playing or not It’s no big deal

He is fit. Roy himself said he chose Hughes ahead of him because of his good performance against Burnley.

That worked out well then Absolutely stupid decision. Roy trying to be fair and giving Hughes a run of games and leaving one of our best players on the bench. There is no knowing if we would have won with Doucoure but with the amount of interceptions he makes I think we would have. When asked whether the hamstring injury was the reason for Doucoure dropping out, Hodgson said: “Partly that and partly because Will Hughes did so well against Burnley. “There was no reason to take him or Jefferson Lerma out of the team – they didn’t particularly deserve that. “Eze coming back in meant someone had to make way. I could have taken Will Hughes and Lerma out or I could have left Doucoure, who is now going off anyway with Mali to play games. “He’s been cleared from the injury but he was only cleared on Friday. “Between Monday and Friday, we didn’t see him. They only gave him a clearance on Friday to play this game today. “It was an easy decision to start him from the bench rather than play him for 90 minutes in the game.” Edited by EddieMac (15 Nov 2023 12.29pm) Edited by EddieMac (15 Nov 2023 12.30pm)

You've quoted what Hodgson said. It seemed reasonable a reasonable to me before a ball was kicked.
