We turned him down couple years ago because he wanted a deal to include 6 or 7 back room staff & SP was concerned that if he left / was fired, in one swoop the club would lose almost its entire coaching support team.

If it is Southgate, he won't last the season.

Definitely not. In addition to what has been said about him above, I believe he also wanted us to buy a particular player to show our commitment to him and his coaching hangers-on.

I get the impression that he thinks he's much better than he actually is.

NES is a familiar name and that is the only credential I could give for supporting his appointment.

It does look as though Paddy is being upskilled for that particular role but beyond him I think I'd want one of those obscure European coaches nobody has really heard of but comes in to almost revolutionise the club - I hate to say it but if anyone had a clue who De Zerbi was prior to his arrival on our shores, they knew far more than me.

Suffice to say, I wouldn't be able to name anyone fitting the above descriptor and beyond that I'd really struggle to give a name, familiar or not, with any enthusiasm.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Paddy

This would be a very poor appointment.
Lacks any experience in the Premiership, apart from one game in charge when he was apparently pleased with the teams effort and performance, even though we were thrashed 4-1.

BrentisBack Flag Beckenham 08 Nov 23 2.38pm

Wouldn't be surprised to see Gary O'Niell in the dugout next season with Shaun Derry back with him if they have a good season with Wolves. He lives very local to Beckenham and his kids are in school in the area and his boy is in a South London clubs academy.
Would be a very good move for him and the club if he can back up and better what he did for Bournmouth this season at Wolves. He certainly knows his onions when it comes to tactics and coaching. All signs point to a big future in management for him.
