Oh dear, the man with no beliefs attempts to woo the millions of muslim voters and ends up doing the opposite. His constant inability to take a position is both funny and worrying. Johnson was often accused of having the opinion expressed in the last conversation he had and Starmer seems similar. Time to break the two party system

Starmer will ride the storm. When this all blows over, and the population transfer becomes an open policy, he will position Labour as being all for it. Probably one of the reasons the Tories will be so keen to sit out the next 5 years in Government. Perhaps even, (and here I can accept some accusations of being a little OTT but what the hell!) use it as a tool to get people to vote for us to rejoin the EU. Present it as the UK wishing to play its part in an EU-driven resettlement programme for Palestinians. Maybe even frame it in that kind of light i.e only racists would vote for us to remain outside? But again, possibly me being me. But if I was a British Muslim who seriously thought Labour was on its side, then I would be reconsidering that. Might even see Islam taking on its own political shape in the UK with Tower Hamlets, which barely gets a mention in our press, as the template for how that might pan out.

It is the UK political system that is knackered ? or just the people operating it are not fit for purpose ?

The only Remain argument I can fully buy into is the notion that our politcal leadership is not up to the job of making Brexit a success. Now that does not mean I think the EU is any better (just the fact that it has somebody with as horrendous a CV of utter failure in any and every job in politics she ever did such as Ursula von der Leyen running the show proves that) but we simply have nobody in any kind of position of power, or on the cusp of it, that you would trust to run a bath. For example this.... Did she think nobody would notice? And this could just as easily have been numerous Tory MP's with their disgraceful behaviour. We are ruled by morons. But we elected them. Yep. Starmer only is interested in ‘not blowing it’ so he gives us no policies and only points the finger. He’s obviously also obsessed with Corbyn’s anti-Semitic baggage and fears it becoming a banana skin so is doing everything to appease the Jewish community. It’s all quite pathetic and shows the man he is. Of course what we want from Sunak, Starmer and Mr Senile is to call out the disgusting Hamas attack but also call out Israel when it becomes overly vengeful and let’s face almost opportunist in wiping out Gaza. All civilised countries have to act with constraint and have the moral high ground over barbaric terrorists. Israel unfortunately seems to be alienating the international community at a time when we should be supporting it and applauding it’s proportionate civilised reaction at such a sad time. It’s not too late though.
The beatings will stop when morale improves. |

They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They made such a fuss about Corbyn and equating his criticisms of Israel with anti-semitism that when it actually comes to making any kind of statement which could be construed in any way as being 'against' Isreal, he cannot do it for all sorts of reasons. And is seemingly willing to take the hit which tells a story in and of itself. To be fair to Labour, its Parliamentary discipline is holding out quite well with many of the usual suspects actually keeping quiet but at a local level, their stance is causing mayhem.

Which reminds me of the small local council who recently approved a road extension budget which due to a typo was 10 times the actual figure and none of them including the opposition spotted it. These are our lords and masters.

For me it is the arrogance they display. Her only concern is getting caught and clearly just assumed it would not happen. Ditto with the Tories and thier lock-down shenanigans. It beggers belief that anybody involved thought it a good idea given what was being imposed on the rest of the country. When you live in a country where people are being limited in terms of who can attend funerals, then those imposing that have to be aware of what anything and everything might look like. And yet they clearly did not. Hubris gets ALL of them in the end.
