Now, i know there are a lot of 'egg-chasing' followers on here & i admit it's my secret passion, been a Northampton Saints supporter for a good few years.

Anyway, it starts in a bit, 20.15 ko ITV, the opening ceremony was, IMHO, meh, typically 'French'. What i didn't like, but is, oh, so, French, the way they tried to drown out Sir Bill Beaumont, who is the Chair of World Rugby, he took time to try & speak in French, but when he reverted to English, the noise levels rose alarmingly.

Hate the surrender monkeys.

Disclaimer: Just a personal view no offence intended yeah right

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

I’ll be watching Englands games, hopefully it’ll be more than just the three and I’ve got it on now just to see the Haka

Well not the most fearsome haka I’ve ever seen, but I wouldn’t tell them to their faces

My wife is of Welsh stock and is more interested in those strapping rugger players than weedy footballers who 'collapse at the merest touch'.

So, as part of the art of maintaining togetherness I am persuaded to support Wales in their quest for glory.

Yes, eagleman, I'll be keeping an eye on events. Should be interesting to see whether England can get through the group stages.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I hope so too, given that there are 5 countries in each group

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Quite a bit of play acting and trying to fool the ref in the rugby these days I'm afraid. Some pretty blatant fouling off the ball too. There was some vicious unnoticed targetting of players on the ground by France last night. Win at all costs is the name of the game.

I agree AS, last night's match did have it's sneaky moments. My comments about the players was more to do with their size and when she marvels at the sight of a 6'7", 20 stone rugger player I often ponder what she saw in me all those years ago.
