Absolutely awful and tragic.

I hope it's not insensitive to speculate so early but my immediate thoughts were of drink driving but could just be a tragic accident.

Bit of a reality check if you think you're having a bad Thursday.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Probably one of two reasons. Either the driver had some form of medical incident (blackout), or the accelerator got stuck etc. the hazard lights were still on from the crash so maybe the driver knew that there was something wrong with the car.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Did cross my mind too BEL.

I must not be the only one in my modern car occasionally who has flashes of 'the machines are taking over' and panic when something is announced by the on-board system that I do not expect or recognise. Could of course be simpler than that too.

You'd be surprised how many parents pick up their kids from school after quite a few afternoon sherries. Driving a 4x4 makes it look like an essential mode of urban parental transport.

WTF was a 'chelsea tractor' doing INSIDE the school grounds in the 1st place? Appalling waste of a young life RIP

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

My thoughts. Without knowing any details, perhaps a medical incident rendered the driver incapable of controlling the car

I often contract work at schools.
Unless school is closed / off term, Im either not allowed to drive into the grounds or have a caretaker walk in front of me, S L O W..

Either they were a teacher, somebody in the staff or possibly a parent dropping something off?
very strange though, the procedure is usually strict.
I'd guess they were known to the staff?

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

It looks as though the car crashed through a fence missing any paved entrance. I note that the driver has been arrested on a murder charge - surely it should be manslaughter if it was an accident?

The driver hasn't been charged with anything yet and certainly not with murder. She's been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I think most outlets are still saying the driver charged by "Causing death by dangerous driving". That might change pending any substance test results, or other information.
It seems she's missed the school entrance and smashed through a fence, across some grass and into the school building.
Difficult to imagine a scenario, other than just being pi$$ed off your tlts

Heart attack, stroke, diabetic hypo. There are plenty of possible scenarios
