Being linked with Chelsea's 18-year-old left back Lewis Hall on loan, who has apparently been playing for them in recent weeks.

Presumably he'd jump at the chance to play for a club higher up the table.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Chelsea would jump at the chance of us sending them back another full England international. This kid has that sort of potential. But does that help us in the long term?

If it's on loan, it's cheap and he's talented, it solves the problem of competition / back up for Mitchell.

We need 2 decent options in every position if we're going to have a good season and I reckon that sorts left back out. Seeing as we don't have the money to buy the 6/7 players we need, loans for a few of them will have to do.

He certainly looks good going forward but there seem to be concerns about his defence. He'd be behind a fit Chilwell and, maybe, the expensive Cucurella though.
Interesting reading comments from Chelsea fans is how much they dislike Gallagher. West Ham seems a pretty obvious destination for him

For me loans are best used to fill positions that we have an opening in (ideally with purchase options in place - otherwise you get the problems of Gallagher and RLC). If we want competition for Mitchell then we should sign someone - with a loan the problem is if they compete well enough to keep Mitchell out of the team then we'll be back to square one next season - we will have developed someone elses player and Mitchell won't be any better.

I think the lad has real talent but there's no point in loaning him unless there's an option to buy. That's my opinion.

Understandable, yet we just don't have the money to buy everyone we like, or even need. We're likely going to have to replace Wilf, perhaps buy or loan a right back, maybe a striker. We're not going to have the minimum 50 mil required. More like 70+ mil really. I'd be happy with Hall on loan and maybe someone will be available next season. Lerma on a free would be good in my opinion. Pressure off of any central midfielder requirements. Let's hope we're not gazumped.

While I agree that we need two decent options at every position, I can't see why Chelsea would send Hall to us (or anyone else) unless he was guaranteed to start pretty much every game. If being a back-up was what they felt was best for him, he could do that staying where he is. Bottom line is I think this rumour has no legs. Mitchell isn't being replaced (though totally agree he does need more competition) so I doubt we could give Chelsea what they'd want were they to loan out Hall.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

I think he would be a great signing loan or permanent. Just looks a lot more dynamic going forward and just a bit better all-round player than Tyrick.

You're right but I suppose they have Chilwell and Cucarella on the left already whereas we only have Mitchell. And, truth be told, I'm not always convinced with him so maybe Hall would get some game time.

Could just be agent talk to get other clubs interested too.
