Another announcement! Its worth remembering how important he was to us for a period. I'd forgotten that he was top scorer in 2017/18 and 2018/19. Though that might be a marker of how bad the squad was

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Milo' by becky He’s going as well. In his prime like JM was a stalwart who helped us survive.

Good luck Luka. Was a very strong member of our team, once upon a time. Mr Parish seems to be having a busy afternoon.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Great player for first two years, not so great after but for those two years he was at times outstanding and should be applauded for that. Pretty much a case of holding onto a player past his best but we didn’t have the money to do anything else.

Isn't that exactly the same with Macca yet fans are eulogising him (rightly) while having lots of digs at Luka's decline? I've never posted a word of criticism of either player. They were both great servants of the club who did a great job in their different ways. Luka is the club's third-highest scorer in the Premier League.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Jimmy Mc had one of his best seasons alongside Gallagher and justified his final contract extension, shame about the injuries. I may be wrong but isn’t Luka simply seeing out his contract and we were unable to move him on? There were rumours his old club wanted him back a year or so ago but it came to nothing. They both worked hard for the team and both deserve a lot of credit but on balance and IMO Jimmy was the better player and managed to retain much of his pace, which is really what Luka lost and that made him look very average towards the end.

A shame about JM but Luka should have been long gone. Hopefully there are replacements in view but never to be relied upon with Mr Parish, who, even after 11 years at the top table, still has a Championship 'recruitment' policy, everything on the cheap.

All the best Luka. As many will know, have staunchly defended him on here when most others have slated him. Top player who loved our club. We'll never know the full extent of why his form downturned...he obviously had some personal loss along the way and some international team dramas, but his quality and contribution over at least a couple of key seasons can't be questioned.

Peak Luka was a mighty thing to behold. I'll remember him that way. He may have seen a huge drop off in form in the last two years but he played a big role in keeping us in the PL during his first couple of years. With Luka and Macca gone that's two big personalities and leaders leaving. If Wilf does go it'll be very quiet at the training ground!

Loved him in the early days. Did the simple thing in a tidy way and could time a tackle. Good luck.
