Genuine question.

Seems as though there was a fatal car crash yesterday evening, Police turned up (as they would) and a full scale riot broke out.

I am intrigued as the knee-jerk response (to riot not tragedy) is 'must be a scumbag area' as the riot was apparently 'anti-police' motivated however given the state of policing in the country last few years I wonder if there is more to it?

All speculative from me of course. Still doesn't look too settled however.

'must be a scumbag area'

Diplomatically described on BBC as one of the most deprived areas of Cardiff so yes - scumbag area

I expect the two boys that died were little angels and totally innocent of any wrong doing

This appears to be a heart-breaking tragedy of two young lives lost in a road traffic accident.

The effect of social media and images seems to have led to outrage that it was as the result of a police chase.

'The BBC has verified CCTV footage appearing to show a police van following two people on an electric bike minutes before a fatal crash'.

I read that the rioting resulted in millions of pounds-worth of improvements to the area.

'South Wales police van was pursuing teenagers in Cardiff, force admits', after first denying it.

Force refers itself to police watchdog following deaths of Kyrees Sullivan and Harvey Evans.

following and pursuing are slighty different, video shows the bike and then a police van going along a residential road, doesnt look like excess speed from either

Well, I mean whatever their merits or misdeeds, they are dead now as result of a foolish moment, so while we should deplore what may well be a totally unwarranted response from the community (I'm sure we'll soon know the details) it's still a very unfortunate way for it all to end.

There’s a bit of difference between being a little sh!t and deserving to die.

I find it interesting as I had a member of my peer group, age 16, killed by police in a chase on his moped. From what I can see thus far they look to have been followed but whilst a reasonable guess were they unlawfully knocked off their vehicle (killed) as an and possibly the question?

In any circumstance very sad.

Yes, exactly. I think people need to separate the two (the event and unruly response), rather than having a default of zero sympathy due to what followed. At the end of the day two kids died.
The footage released certainly appears to have shifted the police response but beyond that who knows. For the sake of the families, community and indeed police hopefully what has happened will be accurately pieced together. That's the only fair course of action when something like this takes place.

Harsh result. But the little darlings were whizzing around the roads, no licence, insurance, protective gear (helmets).
Responsibility probably lies a lot closer to home than the police.

And the rioters torched a disabled woman's car. Utter pondlife.
