Would it not have been better to ban him from 1st september 2023. Currently 4 months of his ban is outside the regular season?

Might be intentional? Not suggesting that just offering up!

Have to admit I thought it unlikely further action would come, let alone 2/3 of a year, what were the odds on that?

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

A major blow for Brentford losing Toney for months.
He is their top scorer this season with 20 PL goals, Brentford's next highest goalscorer is Mbeumo with 7 PL goals.

Toney is of course a master from the penalty spot, but Mbeumo has also taken penalties for the club and scored a goal from the spot this season.

What on earth was this boy thinking? 232 times he broke the betting rules. After starting in 2017 he clearly thought he was untouchable.

Good footballer maybe, but a bad lot.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

He should have committed GBH on a referee, then he would be playing again after a few weeks.

Ridiculous over-kill.

It’s hardly believable that Ivan, would have done this considering what he has to lose
The suspension is justified, they all know the rules, but having said that this has all the signs of him having a problem he couldn’t control, if so he isn’t the only one either in life ,or more importantly in his case football. I hope he gets any help needs to live without any need to gamble in particular on football. Brentford have not responded yet, he could have a problem there if only over the make up of his contract ,possibly losing wages for the period.

It seems a tad unfair to the sides that have faced Brentfords strongest team that others face them without his goal threat .

Just as well they are not involved in relegation games though if Spurs nick a Euro spot ,. I dunno a big fine would have been more appropriate

I agree 8 months is excessive, but challenging the integrity of match results by allowing this sort of thing is far more damaging to the sport overall than GBH on a ref (although in my book it's a worse offence)
TBH, it's nice to see the FA actually punishing something with some vigour and meaning for a change. I wish that they could apply This harshness to other areas of the game...

Total victim mentality now. He had to be charged. I agree he should be rehabilitated but he knew betting was banned and betting on your own games is serious to say the least. Snooker has handed down life time bans but Toney crying victim of unfairness because it happened near to England squad. Idiot Southgate could have kept his mouth shut.

Absolutely. He knew betting was a no go. If he needs help, fine, but don’t play the victim card. I was waiting for the racist card tbh.
