So the dick head fan who did the gesture to a spurs player is going to be hung drawn and quartered for being the worst racist ever. I posed a question a while back about levels of racism and can there be any different ones or is it one size fits all.
Now the police are apologising for stopping a potential protest at the coronation which may or may not have caused mayhem. Even compo being talked about.
These two arnt linked in any way apart from the same people wanting racism as a one size crime and then freedom of speech being allowed as any protest one wants to make.
The freedom of speech but isn’t about whether it was a racist gesture; more about any one in the public eye trying to get a point across about how it wasn’t that bad will also be hammered and cancelled. There may well be some but too afraid to speak out. On the flip side anyone seems to be able to hammer the police for doing their job with the protesters.
Any one get my point ?

What gets my goat is that the day after the coronation there is video of the cops doing nothing about the bloody eco protestors holding up the traffic.

Perhaps motorists should buy themselves King Charles masks then maybe the cops would actually do their job.

Here’s my suggestion…if protesting at a celebration or other public event is not to be curtailed or prevented due to freedom of speech, may I suggest that we all turn up at Graham Smith daughter’s wedding or his mother’s funeral with megaphones and placards and boo loudly. As leader of the movement protesting on Saturday, he should realise that ‘what’s good for the goose’ does indeed apply to his own life too.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Of course people must be free to express their opinions. Just not anywhere or at anytime they want because other people have rights too. For instance motorists have the right to drive on motorways.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

It's a difficult balance. UK citizens have liberties, not rights. That is to say, we are free to do anything we want, within the bounds of legislation.
That said, I think you will find the people in control will always err on the side of excessive force/restrictions to maintain discipline, and argue the toss about restricting freedoms in court at a later date.
Some police have good days, some not so good.

I disengage, I turn the page.

the upper House of the Parliament in Ireland is currently sitting on the most Draconian new Censorship Laws you ever did see......or not see.

Ireland....twinned with North Korea

More and more Draconian rules are an inevitable consequence of a crumbling society. A situation that those in power created themselves with idiotic decision making.

While they hide in their exotic boltholes and leafy mansions, we the plebs have to reap the consequences.

That's about the nub of it.

The fact that social metrics have worsened from social liberalism's ideas makes no difference, their ideology is shielded from such reflections as it's fundamentally utopian in nature rather than utilitarian.....and yep, people who don't live their principles have no credibility.

and anyway, the State does not need to enforce tough blasphemy laws to protect some religions. Cos violent nutters do that anyway.

Whereas it's ok to say ''you are misguided believing Jesus was God'', cos that religion is no longer protected....at any level.

Good for the Goose.....different laws apply to different groups & ideologies.

imagine being accused of ChristianoPhobia, or Hetero-Phobia ? or denying the Yamnaya holocaust and anti British-ism ? or anti-Celticism

or an outrageous race-supremacy ideology that observes the domination of certain groups in Olympic Sprinting ? 'no room for racism....whitey will still win the Olympic 100 metres, any day now'' ?

Good for the Goose.......except when you are telling the truth ?

The truth is obviously unpalatable and best ignored and replaced with an ideal that does not exist, nor will ever exist. For this, see education.

it is now a crime to belittle or deny the Holocaust - fair enough. Yet, crack a joke about the Potato Famine ? you can still hear those jokes in every workplace, even today.

The Romans enslaved tens of thousands of white Brits. Where the outcry ?

Good for the goose ?

hypocrisy ? go and listen to David Starkey's musings on the Slave Trade. Starting with the etymology of the word 'Slave'

Tear down the Statues of any Caesars ? Boudicca Statue ? most Celtic tribes were slave owning.
