It’s here with 3 matches left to play. There are now three teams whose maximum points total, even if they won all their remaining games, is 39. So with 40, Palace are home and hosed for another season. We kind of suspected 36 or 37 may have been enough, but having it 100% certain is always a great feeling each year, particularly after some of the nerve-shredding end of season’s in the past. Thank you Roy and Ray!

Mathematical safety has been duly achieved with Leicester obligingly falling to a 3-5 defeat at Craven Cottage. Beach ware now permitted for the fans but let's hope the squad remain committed to winning more games.

And Milwall choked away a 3-1 HT lead and their hold on a playoff spot in the Championship. A good day indeed.

We are Premier League for the 11th season - on the bounce - and that’s how you send off a coronation weekend…!!

Look - it’s been a difficult watch at times - but we’ve never been in the relegation mire really - then put any lingering doubts away in some style - 5–1 win against Leeds away will live long my memory and probably the pivotal moment in our season..!!

So - flip flops on - with 3 games to go, whilst we watch - what will be one hell of a relegation scrap from upon high..!!

Just in time as I’m off to Cyprus on Thursday - now that first beer in the Cypriot sun going to taste all the much sweeter..!!

Yes its a great feeling to now know that we can now relax and watch the relegation battle unfold without having to worry about our own results, although we will may well have a say in who goes down with the final game being against Notts Forrest. I must say a big thank you to Roy and his team because until they arrived our safety was still very much in the balance. Lets hope during the summer break we get the right Manager who can take us forward and that we get the players we need (and especially a decent striker and Right back) to take us forward and upwards in 2023/4.

Not getting at you personally, doombear, because you are merely repeating a well-used cliché, but it should be 'arithmetical safety'; there really is no mathematics involved, just the ability to add up multiples of 3!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)
