This is possibly the best gig he has ever been given. A nice little earner for four, hardly winnable, games and if they go down it wasn't his fault. If Leeds manage to stay up likely a huge 7 figure bonus. What an stupidly late time to change their manager.

Why is it stupid? The amount of goals they have recently conceded they could hardly do any worse!

Last throw of the dice by Leeds, I do understand this although it is all part of the madness. An Allardyce bounce, say 2 wins from 4, could do it for them.

Who among us wouldn't take it if offered? It just sums up how mad football is; throwing perhaps £3m at someone who hasn't worked for 2 years for 3 weeks' work.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Hire him in February, even March, or similar time frame we did, yes. But with four games left (two of them Newcastle and Manchester City!). Edited by Slimey Toad (03 May 2023 1.58pm)

Got a £2m bonus at Palace despite the club not being in the bottom 3 until after he arrived. Luckily as he 'retired' we managed to claw it back - he just got Everton to pay it back for him. If he can turn them around well done, however, he started awfully with us (no wins in the first 6 games i think) and his 1st game is away at Man City. With us we lost their 5-0 and he played Jeff S as a centre back!! The bizarre thing is the other teams below Leeds look woeful too so Leeds could stay up merely because Everton and Forest can't win a game.

He did produce some of our more memorable results in our current PL stint, like the 2-1 win against Liverpool (Benteke brace) at Anfield, the 3-0 thumping of Arsenal and the rare win over Chelsea at the Bridge. A slow start yes, but by the end I think most people would have been happy to see him stay. I do wonder if he'll have time to fix Leeds' defence, but it wouldn't surprise me if he pulled off a shock and got something against City.

I have asserted on HOL that I have a 'Feeling in my water' that one of the relegation candidates will pull-off a shock.Suffice to say that a Leeds Utd victory at Man City would come under the category 'Seismic'. Today I have been contemplating the possibility of W.Ham attaining a draw at Man City tonight !
