Try and steer clear of the normal ones like a relegation Decider or a Cup game , try and stick to a game that didn’t really mean much , well they all mean something but mid table clash or something. My one was Palace 2-3 Portsmouth in 2000/2001 I believe , Trevor Francis was in charge and I had to find the report to remember when it was and funnily it was the same week he was charged with punching Alex Kolinko We were 2-0 in first half and absolutely capitulated in the second half. There fans did not stop all game, loudest away fans I have ever heard and the limbs when there 3rd went it was mental.

You mentioning kolinko swordfish reminds me of a game, Grimsby at home, we lost 0-1 on a cold Tuesday night and the goal was a Kolinko cock up. When you get beat by Grimsby, even back then you know you’ve had a bad night(we won’t mention Southampton) It’s always stuck in my mind because my mates wife came to the game, her first game I think and probably her last and even after all this time I remember her asking me “and you enjoy this?” I had no answer

May I take the liberty of naming two games that came within a week of each other, both at Selhurst. I take you back to the end of the 1975 1976 season. At Christmas we looked odds on for promotion with us heading the table and playing a lovely brand of football. Then came the famous cup run and league results started to go against us. However, entering the last three games of the season we could still seal promotion, and we blew it. Firstly we were held to a 0-0 draw with Aldershot. Then, the following week were played out another dire goalless game with Chesterfield. I went to both games and they were miserable and depressing affairs. Gone was the fluent classy passing game that had taken us to the top of the table and the cup semi-final. Instead we looked lost and hapless, resorting to long balls. I think it may have been one of those games, when due to injuries, Jim Cannon and Paul Hinshlewood partnered each other up front. Not a marriage made in heaven! In case you are wondering, we lost the final game to Chester, but it was all over by then.

Getting done by bad refs is the main cause of frustration for me .Its compounded ten fold though when you know you have been cheated which seems to happen more often these days with the acceptence of players 'buying' fouls , penalties given for minimal contact and sometimes for none at all .

Forest away this season would have to be up there. To put a penalty wide then not have a shot on target all game and lose 1-0 to that shambles of a team was pretty impressive even by our standards. Otherwise, maybe that Leeds 2-1 cup defeat about 20 years ago when we had a goal that was miles over the line, but bounced away when it hit a defender on the arm, and Dermot Gallagher said play on. The Bristol City Freddie Sears goal too, followed up by losing that game 1-0 in the 90th minute

Pretty sure that Pompey defeat was under Alan Smith - we led with 2 Tommy Black goals, the 2nd was a stunner. 2nd half was awful. For me one of the worst/most frustrating was a 2-2 draw with Oldham under Nicholas/Lewington so i think 1995.

No your thinking of a different then as freedman and popovic scored for us and Tommy black was long gone

It was 2002. Tommy Black was on the bench, Trevor Francis was manager. Portsmouth scored 3 goals in 4 minutes, Paul Merson had a worldie and Portsmouth ran away with the league that year.

I got a little confused as you were a little out with the year. Both games quite depressing!!

I have a feeling we had 2 years in a row when we drew 0-0 at home with them, but in the one I remember (it's weird the stuff you remember from so long ago when you can't remember your workmate's name any more) they had a bearded midfielder called Malcolm Darling, who wound up the Palace fans to fever pitch. It was s**t, 0-0, 47 years ago, one of my first games, and I still remember it !
