Be interesting to see how this develops. My guess is nothing will come of it but them breaching FFP rules must surely be a statement of fact as opposed to an accusation in need of investigation. Again, don't see it being of any real significance but hey ho.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Difficult one to predict - If it comes to nothing the other rich clubs will know they can do what they like - If it comes to a substantial penalty it will just drive rich clubs towards a super league where FFP doesn't exist -

I remember when they were a real club vying with us for big crowds in division 2. Now I wouldn't care what happens to them whatsoever.

Battle of the lawyers I can see City out spending the FA after all it works for them in football. It is why we need a independent regulator, why has it taken this long to come to light. The FA have been aware of this for years and City have refused to co-operate. Clubs should have an annual licence and to renew it they should provide the FA / PL whatever with their annual accounts and tax returns (clubs that ago bust nearly always stiff the tax man). Any club not co-operating should have their licence suspended with the threat it is removed completely. Any club that is not viable likewise. This would force clubs to behave in a financially responsible way as happens in Germany. My prediction is that years from now City will get a slap of the wrist. They should remove all their trophies and amend the records. Edited by Badger11 (06 Feb 2023 12.23pm)

Is this a line in the sand for football? I doubt it.

Maybe Everton won't have the best stadium in the Championship after all!

City have a track record of cheating, but have expensive lawyers that run rings round the FA. They have been charged before, but don’t care and carry on. Nothing will happen, as if they get banned, other clubs will claim they should of won the Premier or not got relegated due to results against City.

And I am now beginning to warm to that prospect. Good riddance.

They will be found guilty of some counts and not others. They will be fined some millions, which to an almost endlessly rich owner is next to pointless. The only way I can see any sort of point deduction is if Arsenal have already won the league, and point deducted are not enough to knock them out the CL. Then everyone can pat themselves on the back on a job well done
