If we don't sign at least a right back and a central midfielder by the close of the transfer deadline we are in dire straights..!! Also looks like Mateta off to Galatasaray - so another forward also required..!! To me this just smacks of no funds available or certainly not enough to compete..!! What the hell is going on..?? COYP

COYP Well we generally pay out Money For Nothing, but you are right; I've never known a big signing by us to be So Far Away.

Maybe supporters will be delighted when a couple of players arrive on 'Loans' or perhaps a player whose transfer fee will be somewhat modest in PL terms. Edited by Willo (27 Jan 2023 7.41pm)

I agree, but I think as we are all brothers in arms, we can ride it out if we stick together. For many football clubs, what we're going through is little more than the walk of life, even if there's an aspect of Romeo and Juliet to how we all feel about Palace.

I just don't understand - we are what a couple of players in key positions away from being a "decent side"..!! We have "Billionaire" Board Members/Investors - and what they're prepared to see their investment diminish significantly through inertia which could result in relegation if we ain't careful for the sake of a little more investment when it is clearly required to sustain our position..!! See in some reports today PV is unhappy - don't blame him - the whole thing is a mess..!! To my mind Parish and his perceived insistence on being the face of Palace is a problem with other investors. Steve your time is done/race run please let others with more financial clout than you take us to the next phase. We'll always be thankful and forever grateful for what you have done - but as I said you're race is run and time is done..!! COYP

What I can’t get my head around is the fact that here we are, tenth successive season in the Premier League, yet we seem to be the only club not attempting to sign anyone.

There is probably a power struggle at the top, we have a good enough squad to stay up, when all is sorted we can rebuild in the summer, all stay calm, we are only talking about 18 games, i am sure if Mateta goes a player will come in to replace him.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

3 wins and 3 draws gives us 36 points and safety, job done. Anything else is a bonus. Why spend more? That is the limit of our ambition. If you want to support a Premiership winning team, switch to City - they look good. If you want to scrape into a minor European berth, switch to West Ham - although they don't look so good. Chelsea spent £285m in the summer, £350m target in this window = £635m. Everton up for sale for £500m = total value less than Chelsea's spending in the last 2 windows. Chelsea are a few points above us, and think they should be higher. If you prefer that, then switch to them. You can watch Koulibaly, Sterling, Aubameyang and Cucarella. You pays your money, you takes your choice.
