This makes a lot of sense if the club are bringing in another striker. It hasn't really worked out for him with us and he'd probably do well in Turkey, similar to how Sorloth thrived over there.

I would say though that I hope we bring someone in first to replace him if we are going to let him go, otherwise we could end up with an even weaker squad.

Hope that comes off as he’s f’ing useless. His first touch is appalling.

Mateta likes grass in front of him to run on to balls, he is found wanting with his back to goal trying to hold the ball up with a defender at his back.

No Mate - for the same reason Ings would have been a bad signing - doesn’t fit the profile of young and upcoming talent..!!

Look at what PV has said “we are looking at players that meet the profile we are looking for”..!!

Honestly think with Ings - we’ve dodged one - £15M for a 31 year old that one of our peers didn’t deem good enough - that should tell you something..!!

Let the spammers take the hit - they’ve what now spent close to £200M in the last 12 months to be 3rd from bottom..!!

He had his moments at the end of last season which made one think he had a chance.
He’s had limited chances this season but appears to have reverted to the clumsy and limited player he first appeared to be.
Even his awkwardness seems easy to deal with by defenders now and he offers very little to our team.
He seems likeable and I hope he moves to a league more suitable for his level.
I agree we need to get a replacement before he goes though.

The way he's being playing makes me wonder if he's full of turkey.

We do have a painful recent history of paying out lots of money for mediocre (at best) strikers. Or maybe more traditionally so than 'recently'.

For what it's worth (probably not much) we've never had real success paying sizable sums to top clubs (or European clubs) for goalscorers. By far our best buys over the past thirty years - Mark Bright, AJ, Chris Armstrong, Glenn Murray - have come from the Championship. The moral of the story is that a second-rate PL stiker is still second-rate. A top-class Championship striker may be second-rate at PL level too, but at least he hasn't proven it so just possibly he might not be.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

I don't know why Jean-Phillipe is not doing very well, but I think we should keep the faith as the main problem is that he needs to olay.

His ball-retention, hold-up really needs work.
