Disclaimer: sorry if this is a repeat post and I missed it somewhere, and apologies if this is the wrong part of the forum, but I believe since its our player, it should be in Palace talk as opposed to transfer talk. Due to the end of the loan period for Dubravka, apparently United are interested in Butland. Could this pave the way for a AWB transfer back to us????

You didn't I posted in Transfer Talk but probably should have made a separate thread. Looks like it will happen good luck to the lad. I hope that Man United loan us a player back.

No smoke without fire….it’s all over the media! Would be a good move all round. Sam Johnstone currently injured, but when he returns from injury, Butland becomes 3rd choice. Shame - met Jack outside the ground on quite a few occasions - very friendly, chatty and always happy to sign autographs…

Completely unsustainable for us to have Guaita, Butland and Johnstone on the books, especially with Guaita's contract now running until 2024, so this is inevitable. Butland's contract is up in the summer so if we can get any money at all that's a win. I really thought Butland would displace Guaita. He never quite got away from that idea that he had an error in him. The Millwall one obviously, but that game at Everton last year wasn't particularly impressive. Had enormous potential when he was younger so hopefully for him he can fully recapture that and Johnstone comes good for us.

Butland to Old Trafford, AWB to Old Trafford, simple as that. Player for player, no cash involved.

Thought he was a great buy at the time. Unfortunately, I think that opinion was based off my thoughts on a much younger Jack Butland. Seems to have not lived up to his potential to the extent of not even being a Prem quality keeper, or at least and number 1, which is a shame for him and therefore for us. I would wish him the best of luck at Utd. but cannot say I would be sad about it. I hope Johnstone does not fall into obscurity with us and having both him and Vinnie I would suggest is enough for us, for now. Still would be happy to have AWB back home if that can be worked.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Butland was gonna leave in the summer (that's why we bought Johnstone) but then he broke his thumb on that Australia tour.

I think that's a tad unfair. Especially as a team above us are after him. I think its more of a factor that VG has been so good. The reality is that there are only 20 stating GK places in the prem. So if you are not in that 20, you either sit on the bench or drop down a division.

We would need to bring in another keeper if he goes. Johnstone seems another sick note been here 5 months and hardly ever fit to play …one injury after another.

I hope that Man U are not going to offer us AWB if we give them £5 mil ( which they still owe us ) plus Butland .

My lasting memory of Butland will be the Brighton away game last year. He was exceptional.
