If Wilf wants a 3 year contact on the same money (supposedly 130k a week) and wont budge, Yes or No

That seems like a no-brainer... what's the catch?

Dont you think that 20m is a lot of money, as he sure isn't going to get better, i wouldn't take it, 55k a week more than anyone else, i know he has probably been our best ever player, but he isn't our best player anymore

I'd take it. so What if it's 55k more than anyone else. he's a senior of the team, and still one of our best players.

From a business perspective might not be great but I am a sentimental old so and so, plus it's Xmas, and I can't stand the thought of seeing him with another man... I mean club.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Any club signing him without a fee is going to offer a massive signing on fee. I'm thinking around 6-10mil. I think he's going to need something like that too. Maybe 7.5 mil on a three year contract. I'm wondering are the club mucking around as in the Kouyate situation. Wilf may even get a four year contract out of a new side.

Be interesting to see what club does. There is apparently a 'policy' to offer only a one year deal to those over 30 we have seen others leave because of it.

Would the club be willing to break that ?.

When you consider the situation, clubs are likely to do a deal starting next season. They are unlikely to pay us 10 mil in January. So it seems that Wilf will be here until the end of the season. Whether he will be happy about that I don't know.
Next season, somewhere else.

Why do you not think someone wouldn't pay 10m to jump the queue, especially if they are still in the champions league?

£20m over 3 years is peanuts - that wouldn't even cover the transfer fee needed to replace Wilf, never mind the wages.

Call it £7m a year... how do you replace Wilf's 10+ goals and ridiculous contribution with that?

Definition of a no-brainer.

So you think it's worth it for someone else to pay at £10m transfer fee, and still have to pay out £100k+ per week on wages... but not worth it for us to just do the wage bit?

How does that work?

Just think it makes little financial or footballing sense. But football is a bit crazy so who knows? Wilf will still want a massive signing on fee now, or at the end of the season. Plus, I don't see the club wanting to sell - which further complicates things.
I could be entirely wrong. Clubs like Villa or Everton may offer 10mil now. But that seems pointless for all parties
