Where is he? Injured?
No sign of him in recent games or on tour.

I would suspect that he is not being ‘risked’ in this mid-season lunacy.

That’s a statement with no basis in fact however but I am yet to be aware of any injury.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

He is not listed on the EPL Injury list, but, Jmac & Fergie are back on it. 'Cliff' is due back tomoz or Sat.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

He's looked off the pace for a while now. Essentially, we have no or little cover for him. Reidewald and Schlupp not really full backs but can do a job. There's a player in Mitchell but he's a bit young to be relied on for every match.

Tend to agree - I think having to fight for a starting spot every week is exactly what he needs to push him on to the next level.

He's played a hell of a lot of football over the last couple of seasons and is pretty much an unconditional starter - I think a bit more pressure around that would do him good.

This is where an AWB loan could really do us some benefit. It'd then mean Ward and Clyne pushing for a starting spot at both RB and LB. I'm not saying Joel Ward is the world's greatest LB but he's perfectly adequate enough in that position to challenge an underperforming Mitchell. If anything, Ward playing on the left helps Zaha out a bit as he hardly ever goes forward.

I actually disagree, I think we need to invest in a decent, conventional left back to do this properly - if we have ambitions of being a top-half Premier League club, we're never going to achieve that with Ward/Clyne as our back up left backs and Mitchell a shoe-in whenever he is fit.

I don't think we've spent a proper fee on a right or left back since Van Aahnholt, which will be 6 years ago in January...

Long overdue!

Mitchell has played over 70 PL games for the club and I am of the opinion that the 'Jury is still out' on him.

I have been in conversation with some people (Outside the club) apropos Mitchell, some questioned his defensive and offensive qualities, some argued that he was a "Work in progress", others mentioned that he showed 'Potential' when he was first introduced to the side but he had not progressed as they had expected.Overall there was not resounding positivity.

I think he's been somewhat inconsistent and that's a trait that young players can display. I would argue that Conor Gallagher put in some indifferent displays even though he was voted Player of the Year !

I also think Tyrick has had a number of niggling injuries that have held him back.

I believe he's got it in him to get back to his best - time will tell.

Always was a fan of AWB but given he left at the first opportunity only for it not to pan out as expected he's now on a much higher wage than we were paying, rather keep to our pay structure & get someone else in, that is unless he's willing to drop his salary considerably.
