I still think to this day that Jacko didn't try his hardest to save Swindlehurst's header, i was right behind the goal and Jacko had a big smile on his face as he picked the ball out of the net
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Thanks this was my first game not a bad way to start supporting your team. The thing I noticed is how quick both teams moved the ball, not used to palace doing that.

I was 14 years old and remember getting to the ground about 3 hours before kick off to make sure of getting a standing spot right at the front of the newly constructed Arthur Wait stand, behind the advertising hoarding, which we used to lean over and bang on for extra sound effects. I was in awe of the fact Charlton, Best and Law were playing on ‘our’ pitch, having only seen them before on tv, especially winning the European cup (as the Champions League was then called) the year before. Much to the surprise of the outside world and the delight of Palace supporters, the team gave a good account of themselves and fully deserved the draw
