Those on ANY kind of benefit get more help from today with power bills. Interesting info about pension credits for those just on the basic pension. 850,000 not claiming it. Probably because, like me, they have never heard of it!!! Opens up more help as well. If you know someone in this position please tell them as they may not have access to the internet thus wont know about pension credits.

Personally, I think the government is making every effort to help people financially in the looming fuel crisis that is not of our making anyway. I receive a state pension and an attendance allowance so welcome the support Rishi and co are offering. This winter is going to be tough for all of us and plenty will be worse off than me for sure. Unfortunately there are too many folk who are quick to call for more, whatever help they get instead of making sacrifices and cut backs. Those of us old enough to have endured the 70s short weeks, power cuts etc (self inflicted by short sighted strikes) will be more prepared to deal with the issues we face.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

fuel companies are posting record profits. A windfall tax just helps the Government. Why not break the fuel/energy monopolies and have a proper free-market, and not the cartel which currently exists, and let people pay lower prices.
I disengage, I turn the page. |
