Clearly you don't sit in the Arthur then.

That's both gloomy and untrue.

There's not nearly so much but a clear winter day can be lovely. Find a sheltered spot in the middle of the day and it can get really warm. I have got sun burnt in Cornwall in February!

Always look on the bright side of life!!

I remember a story of an airline pilot who upon landing in a far flung destination announced that "for those wanting to reset their watches the time is several hundred years ago" - he got into some trouble with the local authorities for that remark -

That would be nice ... cheap petrol, mini skirts, the Dave Clark 5, and we'll win the World Cup in four years time.

You'll have to wait a couple of years for the mini skirt, which will be introduced by Mary Quant in 1964. There are other short skirts and dresses, of course, but the classic 60s mini has yet to appear.

I've heard this old chestnut told about a flight into New Zealand, but as with all such apocryphal tales, there are many different versions.

I'll patiently await the mini skirt but wasn't the original MINI born in 1959? I'm sure my Dad's friend had one in 1961. We didn’t get a car until 1964 ... it was an Anglia.

Beg your pardon ... you meant skirt not the car.

1960s was also the start of the package holiday era. Benidorm ere we come!

Fun fact, you could get an Anglia with 750 books of Green Shield Stamps.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.
