Yesterday demonstrated we need a solid defensive midfield player who also has a pass on him. A bit of an old school scrapper. I like Hughes but have come to conclusion that PV doesn’t. McArthur is probably a bit long in the tooth now but would be great cover as a sub. Obviously Doucoure is our main man but god help us if he gets injured.

Anyone seen talent in Championship? Isaac Hayden currently on loan with Norwich and Ben Whiteman of Preston NE are possible shouts. There’s also a player who signed for Forrest having a great season. I think his name is Kouyate or something. ;-)

No more flair players please until we steady the ship.

O'Riley of Celtic has been the only link so far. Would be a great signing in my opinion. But it won't be easy to prise him away.

You'd think we'd have options lined up considering Downes was almost through the door in the summer (real shame we missed out there).

[Link] I would also sign Sybil.

O’Reily would be good as he could also fix that leaking tap in the changing room.

(I can get away with that one as I’m half Irish) 😄

Hayden was signed in pre-season but only played his first match for Norwich about a week ago.Norwich have an obligation to purchase the player from Newcastle dependant on performances.
He can play at right-back, at centre-half and in midfield.

If we can’t find anyone suitable maybe (and as a precaution) we should recall Scott Banks from Bradford. I’m not sure how’s he’s done up there but a talented player from what I’ve seen. Sweet left foot which may work well with Doucoure in a slightly more advanced position.

O'Riley could definitely be a good signing. I also think Brenden Aaronson could be the type of player we need dependent on price of course. Alex Scott at Bristol City is a promising young player we could give a chance to. Andre Dozzell from QPR also a possibility although will be tougher to convince them to sell considering how well they are doing. I also think we need to look at Wilf's side of the pitch and think Dolan at Blackburn could be a player to watch

…and O’Riley must look at the ageing Milo and McArthur and realise he has a great chance of starting with a team like Palace and making a name for himself in Premiership.

If he joins the likes of Newcastle he’ll warm the bench for years and likely fade away and lose his zip.

I don't think we will buy a DM player, PV only wants one and that is Doucoure, although i don't agree with PV

I feel we need another defensive option to work either alongside or as back up to Doucoure. Also feel we need a all rounder with an eye for a pass.

Funnily enough I’d be interested in his namesake Doucoure for Everton. Not sure he gets in the team ahead of Onana Gueye.

Aouar is interesting and certainly and pedigree but not sure on the defensive side

Watched O’Riley tonight against Shaktar in UCL. The fella literally cannot pass Made Luca look like Pirlo. Scottish Premier League football is absolute toilet. Celtic ended their UCL record of successive home defeats tonight which stood at 7 games.

Celtic and Rangers combined performance in UCL this season will be 2 points in 12 games. to get that in context, over a full English season they would acquire 6 points in total. And they are going backwards each year. I reckon they would both struggle in the National League in England.

I guess Sow (Frankfurt) was also a late link at the end of the summer window. Any move for him would also I guess be reliant upon Frankfurt not proceeding in the CL (currently joint 2nd).

Anyway with the links with O'Riley, Sow and Moriba in the summer it's clear we're interested in an a athletic CM at least to help cover more ground than we already do and reduce the workload of Doucouré.

I just hope we have something lined up so we can move quickly in the window.
