She was one of the last of the Hollywood actors of the 1940's, a star of Broadway as well. Rather like Dame Judi Dench she worked for decades as a character actor but only achieved international stardom late on in life. Back in the 1970's I knew her niece who would have been about 16 a right stuck up little madam who suffered from fame association e.g. my aunt is famous so therefore I am special. RIP Angela, Murder She Wrote made a lot of older people very happy.

My wife just loves Murder She Wrote and is saddened by her death. Lansbury played a wide variety of roles including being Elvis' mother in Blue Hawaii. Great actress. I was blown away when we saw her on stage in London in 2014 performing in Blithe Spirit. For an 88 year old to be so full of energy was wonderful to see. Consummate professional. RIP.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
