As part of its latest strategy, the RAF has set out its ambition to become ‘the world’s first net zero air force by 2040’. You could not make it up. You will be comforted to know that when we send our enemies to the other side it will be done with a responsible carbon footprint.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

On the heels of the now apparently withdrawn identity politics hiring policy. I very much doubt the armed forces of the US, China,India and Russia are entertaining such a thought.

If net zero means tech that is not powered by imported fossil fuels, surely a good thing? If it means the RAF simply switching stuff about with no reduction in dependence on foreign fuel, then it smacks of green washing.

Joking in what respect? The first three countries are the biggest contributors to carbon emissions and Russia also fairly significant. Not a list of potential adversaries. I don't think the UK has secretly developed a fleet of mach 2 stealth gliders. Edited by HKOwen (11 Oct 2022 10.43am)

Edited by HKOwen (11 Oct 2022 10.43am) If they have and nobody knows about it I think that would constitute a success have to say. Us having a greater commitment to 'Green' initiatives comparative to the ones you have listed HKO just makes me feel a bit stupid to be honest. It's like we've turned up to an earthquake with a dustpan and brush. Looking at the relative contributions to consumption, pollution etc. we're nowhere near those places.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Well Brewdog claims that its beer is 'carbon negative' i.e. every can you buy reduces the amount of carbon in the world. "Trebles all round!"

Perhaps we are going to wander around moving switches to OFF & if no one notices or nothing bad happens that will be viewed as less energy required & a successful move towards our carbon neutral goal - Originally posted by silvertop

At the prices Brewdog charge they should carry you home in a sedan chair. And clean your windows, do the bagwash and the ironing and sort out the red lead on the front step.
