I noticed that the SPL signed a new 5 year TV deal with Sky which is £30m pa spread between the 12 clubs. It just shows the vast gulf between Scottish and English football. Palace get around £120m pa and some of the higher clubs will get £150m pa on their own. I'm not sure if this deal is even on a par with the Football League? It looks like Championship clubs get more. The one interesting point is that SPL clubs are allowed to pay per view 5 games per season. I suspect Rangers and Celtic would love to increase this number. Edited by Badger11 (30 Sep 2022 9.45am)

My guess is the TV companies are looking for cheaper alternatives to fill screen hours on their sports channel offering - Even more so in the current economic climate -

I can see the day when each PL club controls their own TV rights, of course this will favour the elite clubs. I would be happy to pay Palace to watch live games at 3pm on a Saturday rather than some dodgy stream but I suspect financially we would be worse off. I wonder what the next TV deal will look like, the current Sky one was more or less the same amount as the previous. I think the Amazon deal was a waste of time for Amazon only being able to show games 2/3 times a year. I suspect the next amount of the deal will also be flat people are not going to have the money. Simon Jordan has suggested the the PL bypass Sky altogether and indeed the technology for that is simple enough. I think some sports in the US have already done this. Change is coming whether it is good or bad us punters will no doubt pay more. Edited by Badger11 (01 Oct 2022 7.21am)

I can certainly see that there is likely going to come a time when there will be a push to keep this revenue in house & clubs stream through their own TV channels - Yes it favours the rich - Just a few thoughts - Originally posted by Badger11

I wouldn't pay 50p to watch a Scottish game on TV. I presume the big draw are Celtic in Ireland.

If Scottish football came free with Palace TV I still wouldn't watch it - ( unless we had a loan player involved or some other tangible connection) Originally posted by ASCPFC

There were obvious connotations with Rangers and Celtic, I used to watch out for Stranraer - just 'cos they're the underdog, a bit like supporting Palace - but obviously nowhere near as good. Look at their crowds - it's at Whyteleafe kind of level. I don't bother following much anymore. The whole league seems to simply revolve around never ending Celtic Rangers derbies. The epitome of boring and foregone conclusion.
