So much of what was once termed 'conspiracy theory' is actually true.

The WEF is just a meeting forum, what matters are those power forces that make up those meetings and what they agree on. They have converged upon agreements on how they want to shape global society. These are far from secret and while not shouted by the establishment are available in books and booklets for all those interested.

They have many liars running cover for them, however, their main mode of defence has switched from denying what the planned future is to trying to present that future as something you want....as beneficial to you.

It's an authoritarian and completely controlled future, where your personal autonomy is gone and where a form of 1984....a warning from the past....becomes the ideal.

Communism and fascism failed to control the masses so now its the turn of globalism, whilst the article may go over the top a little the point is well made.

I am concerned about the power of these huge IT companies like Facebook and Twitter and how they are a law unto themselves deciding what we can and can't do and see.

Censorship by private companies without any recourse is happening now e.g. Papyal and Youtube to name but a few.

Apple refusing to obey a legal warrant to open phones of suspected terrorists and the FBI unable or unwilling to compel them to obey the law.

1984 is often a point of reference but I think Robocop is actually a more accurate reflection of where we are heading. In the original movie every aspect of people's lives is impacted by OmniCorp and when you look at the reach of companies like Amazon this is becoming more and more true.

They say we never learn from history I am not sure that is correct. 2000 years ago someday said to control the people give them bread and circuses well communism and fascism failed because they didn't.

Today's global corporations are more then happy to sell you stuff in return for you letting them into your lives (me included).

How long before somebody stands for Mayor of London as the Amazon candidate.

One of the several facets communism and fascism share is authoritarianism and neoliberal globalism has converged upon the same approach.

Communism rid itself of corporations but fascism didn't. So what we are seeing apes fascism insomuch as it keeps corporates as separate entities but creates both the regulatory and incentive structures as to de facto have no separation between business and state.

All the corporations support globohomo, they all support the same buzzwords....and that's because if they don't they will be the nail that is hammered down both legally and socially.

If the system changed they would all swivel on the dime....the only real opposition would be the politically hired HR departments.....Who, in many cases, have been given far more power than their competency warrants.

Well certainly your digital fingerprint is keeping tabs of you....

- what you bought
- how much money you have, get, give etc

- where you were at 8pm last Wednesday
- how safely you are driving

- what your DNA looks like on a database.
- what have you typed online

I reckon they caught Bin Laden by matching his GP DNA from North London to that of his kids at Abbotabad, pakistan. Computers work at the speed of light.
And all the bullshyte in the 'zero dark thirty' movie was just propaganda.

Bond movies never made sense the villain having an armed compound in the middle of a town and the local police not seeming to notice it. It always seemed so far fetched and then we found out that Bin Laden had a compound next to the pakistan military. My guess one of the soldiers grassed him up for dollars.

Goodness me! It doesn't "go over the top a little"! It goes a million miles over the top, completely deliberately.

This is a parody, aimed at the attitudes of those who truly believe this nonsense is true.

There's no a snowball's chance in hell of anything like this happening.

Sure, where it makes more sense to share, we will share. Sharing rides happens now. Where it makes more sense to own, we will own.

The choice will always be ours. The power always rests with us. If we decide to regulate the corporations, we will. Hence, the moves to ensure that social media spaces are made safe.

It's these ideas that the corporations control us and that there is some over-reaching global plan being devised that is so ludicrous. It just isn't true. It is simply that as our world has shrunk so the need for global cooperation has grown to deal with today's problems.

Sometimes I don't think WE actually reads anything the WEF actually produces. This is far from parody.

The article writer is Ida Auken. He is a 'Young Global Leader' and Member of the Global Future Council on Cities and Urbanization of the World Economic Forum.

He has far more idea of what is being aimed at than WE has.....these are the areas where the investment exists and is flowing and he's a part of its direction.

Thank you. You have succinctly proved my point.

To start with Ida Auken is female. The clue is in her name. She is a Danish MP who is known to throw out wild ideas to start discussions. This is not in any way WEF policy. The WEF have thousands of contributors, some of whom do this kind of thing.

Ms Auken says about her piece:-

"I wrote this piece to start a discussion about some of the pros and cons of the current technological development. When we are dealing with the future, it is not enough to work with reports. We should start discussions in many new ways. This is the intention with this piece."

I think she intends it to be a parody. What is certain is she has very effectively sucked you in to making a pretty stupid response.

Others may think that I don't. I think this is more like "group think" Uber has a mission statement that every car should be rented in the future, Sky Glass is just renting a TV etc. I don't think there is a global conspiracy but corporations have enormous power and governments seem reluctant to reel them in.

The wef have put out a promotional video in the past that touches on some of the points made by the Danish mp. So it's not just in her head.
