Surprised this looks like the first independent thread.
Well it appears that our inflation is similar to the EU in % terms for general shopping items. Fuel is something else but France actually owns the business and has better infrastructure ( no CND etc, back in the day) so has more control before that surfaces.
Anyhow it seems countries with more ties to Russia have double our ROI.
Alternatively are we now at a point and cost that is realistic. I mean have we had it too good too long and this is a delayed thing because of that. I’m sure posters can put more meat on the bone.

I saw a Brexit article the other day celebrating how are inflation is better then the EU.

I don't agree with that sentiment the EU inflation rate maybe higher than ours but that could be temporary even if it isn't so what inflation in this country is far too high to celebrate this as a Brexit victory.

We are in sh*t just because the EU may possibly be in worse sh*t isn't a cause to celebrate.

I was in France a couple of weeks ago. We went to do some food shopping for my mum who lives there - my wife reckoned it cost about 50% more than it would've here. This was in rural Brittany not downtown Paris.

We are on holiday in Kefalonia and food and restaurant prices have rocketed up since we were here last summer

It’s blatantly obvious that it’s the conservatives who’s fault it is.
It started with boris and now liz has carried it on.

Many experts say we are heading for recession, inflation at 9.9%,interest rates predicted to rise sharply enhancing the suffering.Strikes and more planned.Cannot reasonably believe that failure Starmer coming to power will help one jot.Perhaps a UN negotiated settlement in Ukraine.
Any solutions out there??

It would certainly be good if we could rid ourselves of this war.

Truss just put another 100 billion on the never never credit card to ensure that our energy bills only doubled instead of quadrupling.....that's certainly not going to be good for inflation but what can you do....I'd say start prepping, buy some winter clothing and only heat the sitting room.

In short we are bound and gagged and your big beefy prison cellmate has a worryingly large erection.

It's not going to be fun, especially this winter.....let's hope it's better winter next.

Why would it be?
We could well be in for a long term decline.

Not all of us will suffer though. Many people including myself are locked into fixed price tariffs. I took out a two year fixed price tariff just over a year ago so I'm fine until August 2023 by which time hopefully prices will have come down somewhat

I should imagine that's only a small percent of people. However, it's good that not everyone's in the same boat I suppose.
