In actual fact the new leader of the Conservative Party, who of course will be our next Prime Minister, will be announced at a ceremony in Westminster at 12.30pm tomorrow. That person faces gargantuan challenges and the 'In-Tray' is certainly daunting. Edited by Willo (04 Sep 2022 9.45am)

Yes you are right willo They will announce tomorrow, it's felt like a long process to choose a pm who will only fail miserably at running a sinking ship.

Should be Announced tomorrow Liz Truss is the overwhelming favourite to win but I can't understand why. As International Trade Secretary she claims to have done a number of trade deals with various countries after Brexit but in reality the vast majority of those were just EU deals rolled over. As Foreign Secretary she managed to obtain the release of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe but that was done by giving in to the sort of blackmail that the country said that they wouldn't do. She has also insulted the leader of our closest European neighbour which may or may not have repercussions. The people that know her best are the Tory MPs who worked alongside her for years but knowing her they preferred her rival yet the 160,000 mainly old buffers who get to vote in the new leader decided that they knew best and made her the favourite for the job. Dark times ahead

Perhaps a disaster waiting to happen...lacks substance, not very bright and is the leading candidate for a role in which she has not displayed any obvious credentials. Self inflicted wounds, they booted out Dominic Grieve who demonstrated considered comments and had something akin to statesmanship about him.

We need someone with intelligence, flair, honesty, ambition, loyalty, articulacy and who is clear thinking, dependable and, most of all, hugely patriotic. So, I'm hoping Boris wins.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I'd seriously question their mental state by the fact that either of them actually want the job at the moment. With the recession that's here/coming there is absolutely zero chance of them winning the next election. They must both be nuts.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |
