I thought I would start a thread about these 2 shows I have now seen both episodes of each show.

House of Dragons.
I quite enjoyed the first 3/4 seasons of GOT always partial to a bit of sex and violence but by the end I was getting bored of it.
However I thought I would give HOD a go.

Rings of Power
I loved Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy (faithful to the book) I have loved the book since I was a child I have also read most of the back stories which form the Rings of Power show. So I was a bit concerned when I heard they were playing fast and lose with the story. Tolkein isn't good at writing female characters so the woke need to shoe horn them into the story.

Conclusion for Both Shows
They are absolutely terrible, confusing plots, boring characters, too woke etc.

Apparently the streaming companies have spent a fortune on both shows my advice they should have hired a decent scriptwriter. As for the actors if you are going to spend a fortune on a show at least get some with sex appeal or star quality.

I hear that fans of the genre are not happy these could end up being the most expensive turkey's in a long time.

I think the woke thing is the least of their problems.

What irritated me about Rings is the hobbit story line. This is completely unnecessary and invented they play no part in the origins story as told by Tolkein.

The woke thing is proper annoying but I will endure it this time.

I am not a Tolkien or die affecianado (my brother is so can imagine his view) so actually couldn't care a less if the tale deviates from his work... if it is good. I suspect there are many who disagree and the JRT purists are who caused amazon to close down the comments to counter the nerd psunami.

Is it good? Not an expensive flop for me. A very expensive piece of OK.

One thing. The Suits have not only sought to ride the inclusive horse but they have obviously been watching GOT. The elves are irritating RP. The rubbish hobbits are Oirish. The dwarves Scots. And significantly the men are course lipped northern a la GOT. I think they are seeking a hybrid by way of cashing in. Which will annoy the Tolkien nuts even more.
