Lots of grumbling about the lack of signings this window. Quality & Value rather than Quantity and over-paying.

This window:
Doucoure: a class addition, first team starter.
Johnstone: will take over from Guiata at some point this season - first team starter, on a free.
Ebiowei: watch him closely when he plays - top class addition for next to nothing, and will eventually become a Premier quality first team starter.

Last Summer:
Guehi: top quality, first team starter
Andersson: top quality, first team starter
Olise: top quality, will become full first team starter this season.

That is 6 quality players in during the first 13 months of Viera's tenure. Plus Eze in a previous window, and Mitchell through the academy. That's 8 players since the final hurrah of the Hodgson era.

We are only 3 or 4 away from a top quality matchday squad, with excellent younger players coming through. Shame about Connor and Wan-Bissaka but we move on. Adamarola being recalled from loan gives cover for Mitchell. Clyne will hold up for the season. Need a front man and another holding midfielder - if we get one of those in during the January window, which is only 13 games away with the World Cup, then we will be in good shape for the 2nd half of the season.

Happy days! Just need to keep up the good work defending set pieces, and improve our nous closing out games with some attacking threat.

Dont forget we spent a lot of money on Sakho and Benteke, and both were absolute pants on balance. Chelsea have changed out almost their whole team this summer and are getting striped every week. I know where I would rather be.

Sounds like you have convinced yourself everything is ok. You have failed to mention how many players have left during the same period which leaves us with a short handed squad. I reckon we are 3 or 4 injuries away from being in a relegation fight. Let’s hope they stay fit because I’m concerned about the following squad members:

1) Milivojevic- simply not good enough any more.
2) Jimmy Mc- becoming more and more injury prone.
3) Riedewald- by his own admission is not in the right head space to play football
4) Tomkins- injury prone and increasingly so.
5) Mitchell- starting to pick up knocks probably due to playing too much for a youngster.
6) Ferguson- will probably never play for us.

On this basis we are paper thin squad wise and I don’t hold your optimism although of course hope you are right.

As I said on a previous thread. The ambition at the very minimum is to try and create a stronger team than last season.

We are weaker than last season - fact

Losing Gallagher who was a poty, surely should have been a priority. Eze is quality, however he has failed to complete a full season since his arrival.

Surely we are better off with benteke, plange and kouyete than no one???

Next season zaha leaves which worries me.

We should be pushing on. Look at Brighton. Is there not anyone looking at our neighbours/rivals thinking their ducks are currently in a row???

Have you had a look at Brightons strikers lately? They are relying on Danny Wellbeck to stay fit. Very few clubs got what they wanted or needed this year. Brighton bought Gilmore in a panic who is out of his depth in the premier league.

If Zaha is going next season and the club believe this to be true maybe that is why we limited the spend knowing funds will be required to purchase big to replace him either Winter window or next summer.

If rumors was true about putting offers in for players we did have 30m which has not been spent Zaha wages are high as well 130+.

I personally think as was reported by someone on Sky which was suppose to be direct from Palace they didn't even really try they want only a set type of player which sounded unrealistic but that is Palace way.

The window is closed now we need to move on if we see bad results etc we can comment otherwise whats the point.

Where is Zaha going aged 30 next season? To a Champions League team? You need to think these things through. Good start to the season this year, granted. Cast your mind back to Spurs away on Boxing Day. Not so good there. Ebiowei is going to be a top player in a season or two.

Luca, Riedewald, Tomkins, Ferguson not good enough for the first team. Jimmy Mac is coming to the end. Adamarola good enough to cover for Mitchell.

Of those who left Kelly and Benteke not good enough. Kouyate was a disappointment, but Doucoure is better.

Not there yet, but 3 or 4 more needed. Connor was great first half of last year, but tailed off a little. He will be an interesting one to watch, but I doubt he is going to fit in at Chelsea. And I think we can find better for the £40 to 50m asking price, that Newcastle would pay.

I would love to see some more academy players launched. Gordon is looking very quick and accurate. About time we have a regular goal scorer. That’s Gordon. Goodman the keeper looking good. A couple of Irish kiddies could well break through and a couple more home grown. Shaping up to reap the benefits of the academy already.

It’s a shame Harris and Blitzer don’t want to fund us into Europe. They were up for Chelsea. Eg c. £4BILLION. !!!
All we would need is say £159m and we’d be in with Patrick.
May be they do have a plan. Hope so.

If you look at completed transfers this time round and in previous windows you will see that there is huge demand for top players at Champions League clubs who are 30 and over

Possibly but at the moment it's just wishful thinking. He won't be the first youngster allegedly destined to be a top player who didn't make it as Reisse Allasani and a young Norwegian player whose name I have forgotten will confirm

Not according to the Coventry manager and supporters who saw him play and were so disappointed with his performance that cut short his loan and sent him back to us

Coventry have not played a home game this season due to the state of their pitch. Don’t let the facts get in the way.

Apologies. I wasn't aware that football managers and supporters only watch home games.

Don’t let your ego get in the way.
