So the first two days were fine, only the third day had widespread violence and a stabbing death so let's not be too harsh, 2 out of 3 not bad.

Reports are that a huge number of people were smoking cannabis and the police did nothing, it was being openly sold with other drugs. This is hearsay from people I know who were there so not fact ,as such.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I went to Basildon Park (a National Trust property in Berkshire) instead. Much safer, very much quieter and no Sadiq Khan. A nice cream tea too.

It's a celebration of Caribbean culture.

The joy of having the Carnival back after a couple of years without it.

Imagine if those statistics were related to a football event. Parliament would e having an emergency session this afternoon.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

I wholeheartedly concur with these sentiments.

The latest figures indicate 209 arrests including 46 for assault, 36 for possession of drugs, 33 for possession of an offensive weapon, 27 public order offences and 8 sexual assaults.A man has also passed away.

At the last Carnival in 209 there were over 460 arrests reported.
Not 'Notting Hill Carnival, but 'Notting Hill Carnage' - Any other event would not be allowed to take place.

Also, I look at the costumes some wear and speculate about the time, energy and money spent putting them together.

In a couple of months time these same folk will be protesting in the streets and asking the government to help pay their energy bills.

Basically I agree, this 'carnival' is no cause for celebration.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

The posturing 'Woke' pipsqueak, Sadiq Khan described the event as "Immaculate".

The Notting Hill Carnival has always been for me a good little snapshot of black culture in the UK which now more than ever is distorted by two opposing narratives, neither of which are productive and IMHO, just my opinion, distort and resultantly block any perspective/commentary which has foundations in reality.

It is absolutely absurd to not suggest that the potential good time that can (and has) been had there, food, music, celebration etc is a f**king brilliant occasion, it really is. Equally, it is beyond my comprehension to not properly address the open drug use/market, the threat from gang culture, violence and seemingly flagrant criminal element that exists.

The apparent choice between either 'black people/culture bad, send them all back etc' or 'white people evil and racist, rise up and revolt' stances with no room for grey in between is, once again for me, a rejection of reality and a sad if not mind-f**king state of affairs.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Sounds delightful.

I don't get that het up about the NHC (outside of people insisting on referring to it as 'Carnival'. If it was the only one in the world or even the first one then fine. But it's not). People have fair warning about what it is going to be like and therefore have a choice about going on not. I choose not to go.

I feel sorry for the cops who have to put with all that s*** but they chose to do the job knowing full well it would come with policing the NHC so it is just part and parcel of it all.

The costumes and floats are paid for by the taxpayer / lottery funding you didn't think they paid from them themselves? Oh that's assuming the money isn't embezzled by the committee which most years it is.

The whole thing is one big party paid for by the rest of us.
